Seems to be gaining a lot of momentum at the moment. Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Juventus.

Gary Neville on the European Super League: "Are Arsenal in the league? They've just drawn to Fulham. United aren't beating Burnley. I can't concentrate on this game. The 6 English clubs should have points docked from them this season. It's an absolute joke."

Quite funny to have employees of Sky condemning it as greed considering. Didn't they charge people £15 on top of their monthly subscriptions to watch one off games recently?
(Obviously it is greed, but if Sky and UEFA are trying to take the moral high ground, they perhaps shouldn't)
Aha, what the fuck is Juventus doing in that list? They won't even qualify for the Champions League this year. I guess the moral of this league is "Why do we have to play against Benevento to an half empty stadium if we can play against Chelsea, Barça and PSG all year and make millions in tickets, TV rights and sponsorships?"
I'm not sure UEFA threatening players with not being able to complete at international level (at the cost of watering down thier own tournaments) is quite the threat that they think it is. If faced with the choice, I can't imagine Raheem Sterling will be demanding a move to West Ham so he can continue to be hounded relentlessly by the media every couple of summers for instance.

I like where this is going. Only the best play the best and sounds like the corrupt Fifa are completely removed so we will get a purer and better form of football.
I was thinking...don't games like Real Madrid vs Manchester City, or Juventus vs Barça draw a lot of attention because they happen very rarely and there's a lot at stake (semis and finals)?! It's pretty much like having the World Cup every summer...it's pretty good for the first couple of years, then "Oh it's Brazil against Germany again...how cute"
Also, is this kind of pie-in-the-sky phanta-football really sustainable? I mean, some of these teams are struggling in their own leagues...Arsenal, Liverpool, Milan, Juve aren't exactly playing well. Milan vs Manchester 0-1 with one single shot on goal, not really "super" eh

Not a fan of this at all. Think you said it best Shenandoah - gonna get watered down when these "top" teams are playing each other every mid-week or so. Def will lose some luster.
Even funnier is that supposedly city and chelsea both don't love this idea, but felt they had to go to not be "left out". CITY and CHELSEA have more moral qualms about fucking over UEFA than liverpool, arsenal and united. Imagine that.
So now they've called in Ajax, Porto, Napoli and my team Roma to join. The way this is shaping up, it's basically the Champions League without FIFA then. I don't know what to think.
AS Roma is strongly opposed to this ‘closed’ system, as it fundamentally flies in the face of the spirit of the game that we all love. Some things are more important than money, and we remain firmly committed to Italian football on a domestic level, and to fair, open European competitions for all. We look forward to continuing to work with Lega Serie A, the Italian Federation, ECA and UEFA to grow and develop the game of football in Italy and around the world. Fans and grassroots football are at the core of our sport, and this must never be forgotten.
It’ll be dead by next week. reading that only six clubs are “fanatical” about it, makes me think that the other six are going to back out in the face of the backlash.
And I would bet every penny I own that the “fanatical six” are united, Liverpool, arsenal, juventus, real and Barcelona. Or maybe Spurs.
