‘Reasons of taste and decency’ BBC savaged for removing ‘poo’ article from website
THE BBC has been mocked online after removing an article from its website for "reasons of taste and decency".

On Thursday, May 24, the BBC posted an article titled ‘Man spotted defecating on sofa in Manchester furniture store’, before swiftly deleting the article and accompanying tweet a few hours later. Posting the screenshot online, media editor at The Guardian Jim Waterson said: “Well that BBC editorial meeting must have been fun.”

In another screenshot, someone revealed a line in the original article, which read: “Ms Quinn said she had ‘prayed it was chocolate spread’, adding ‘I was mortified. It was the biggest human poo I think I have ever seen'.”

The article continued: “I will not be touching chocolate spread for a long time.”

Further down in the article, another worker at the furniture store in question said: “It was on our new easy clean range, so really, he couldn’t have picked a better sofa to do it on.”

The BBC is now being mocked online for the removal of the article, with one user commenting: “I would be the person in that meeting pounding my fist on the table and shouting the people have a right to know!”

Another said: “I missed the initial article, saw that and then just wanted to read the story. Is that wrong of me?”

The article can still be found online, but when clicking on the search result, the BBC website says ‘Page not found’.

When discussing the editorial meeting, one person went on to say: “I imagine that meeting have a 12 angry men vibe.”

With another user adding: “Did they remove it because of the poo or because the sofa was ugly?”

this bloke in the comments wants a mass shut off. :D

Someone trying to make ends meat and having to shut down is heard of too many times these days! Everyone needs to pull together and I'm talking millions and turn their electric off for 24hrs maybe this might wake them up. Food in fridges/freezers will be fine for 24hrs.

claire foy is the latest celeb getting stalked.

Actor Claire Foy's "delusional" stalker has been ordered to stay away from her for five years after sending her thousands of emails.

Ms Foy, 38, who starred in Netflix's The Crown, was targeted by Jason Penrose, 39, in November and December.

Penrose also knocked on the Wolf Hall actor's door on one occasion.

A full stalking protection order (SPO) was granted at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court.

Penrose, who gave his address as Highgate Mental Health Centre, was accompanied by NHS workers during the hearing.

At the hearing, District Judge Michael Oliver said: "I am sure based on the evidence Mr Penrose has carried out acts associated with stalking."

He went on: "Thousands of emails were sent to Ms Foy and on one occasion he attended her address."

Judge Oliver added: "I am satisfied this order is necessary, this was sustained and repeated conduct due to a delusional belief Mr Penrose had about Ms Foy."

He said the actor was "entitled to protection from further acts of stalking".

It was heard that Penrose has been "deemed fit for release" from the mental health centre.

Police can apply at the magistrates' court for a civil SPO to block alleged stalkers from contacting or approaching their alleged victims while a criminal investigation into their behaviour continues.

Penrose sent an email to Ms Foy's agent saying he was a film director and producer and wanted her to appear in his next film.

Ms Foy told her agent she did not know who he was and, from 2 November to mid-December, he sent more than 1,000 emails, contacted her sister and went to the actor's home, the court heard.

Judge Oliver also said that after an interim SPO was granted in February Penrose sent a letter and parcel later that month, breaching the restrictions.

The five-year order prohibits Penrose from directly or indirectly contacting Ms Foy.

There is also an exclusion zone covering all but five districts in the L0ndon borough of Camden.

alex belfield had a nasty shock today.

i did wonder if he'd even be jailed over this stalking conviction.

my hunch was a suspended sentence.

he got 5 and a half years. :-X
