There was an offer last week, 1.99 for a month.

We have it anyway for the kids so I'm sorted. Can't wait.

It's one of my favourite Beatles eras so I think I'll love it. I'll have to find some links somewhere though

Yep. My daughter’s been watching moana and frozen non-stop for months. Now it’s daddy’s turn. The “McCartney 3.2.1” thing with Rick Rubin is pretty fab too.

My wife, during the jemaine clement “shiny” song: “is that David Bowie?”

Gave me a nice chance to play the “bowies in space” song after the movie.

Yep same here, was a bit concerned it could feel too long but it flew by. Totally incredible to have registered the creation of some of the best songs ever, there were some stellar moments

I probably shouldn't have watched it in consecutive days as I just had the second and third parts on as back ground noise. Felt like it could have just been one great 3 hour thing , only so many times I need to hear the intro to get back or don't let me down.

I'm just 1 hour into the first 2 hour part and barny has it correct. I would add a couple more adjectives. Fascinating & Frustrating. As a shitty amateur musician, I've always envied these dudes, but when you see them pick up things so quickly... I dunno, so much fun. Paul showing off Get Back and having Ringo on an off-kit stool working it out, it is as barny would describe as lovely.

It is absolutely incredible. Not sure if there's be much appeal for non-Beatles fans mind you. I've got 10 minutes of the 2nd part to watch then I'm gonna watch Part 3 on Friday night while my missus is at work. Some random thoughts/opinions :

- I think the way it's been put together, it very much makes Paul seem like the main character.

- Was Yoko really that much of a problem? She didn't seem to cause much of a disturbance, and the band don't really seem to mind her hanging around.

- I had never heard of Mal Evans. I decided to read up on him after the scene where he's talking with Paul at the piano and trying to help with the lyrics for The Long & Winding Road. I assumed he was some sort of lackey, and I wasn't too far off. But yeah, interesting story which surprised me by the end.

- Billy Preston really made a big difference to some of the songs. And really, he just seems like a super cool guy who was thrilled and excited to be working with The Beatles again.

- The scene with George helping Ringo on Octopuses Garden is just so nice. Just to see the 2 of them - the less famous or the less cool - working together on a track like that was really heartwarming.

Mind blowing film, watched all 3 episodes in 3 days.

Startling how quiet/withdrawn lennon was during the first episode.

The hidden microphone conversation between John and Paul, I had my ears on the telly trying desperately to hang on to every word, and then the biggest oh shit moment in television history happens, Paul: “John you’ve always been the leader” - magical.

Macca is king here, and everyone looks to him for guidance. What a leader.

Agree with what you two said.

Only I think Macca was a total creative machine at that moment, it is not exactly the film making he look like that as tux suggested.

John was clearly stoned out of his gourd in the first episode. The scene in episode 2 where Peter Sellers shows up at twickenham and John just starts spouting his lewis carroll nonsense-speak had me literally LOLing. (fakeedit: reminded me of the scene in 'eat the document' in my avatar.) Amazing stuff. It was nice to see him seemingly open up more when they went back to Apple.

The scene where Paul explicitly says something to the effect of "it'll be ridiculous in 50 years they'll be saying 'they broke up because Yoko was sitting on an amp' ". How prescient. And the hidden mic bit with John and Paul talking about George... i could go on.

But Paul's response to someone asking him how he writes songs "Oh, I just made up a new one this morning! (proceeds to play the first draft of 'back seat of my car')" That's why the last 50 years of Macca has been so infuriating. He clearly can do *it* whenever he wants, but he's content to half-ass it most of the time, because his garbage is still better than 99% of everyone else's best.
