Since we've proven it's not practical to have a series of 150-item lists to determine our favourite records of the 60s, 70s etc, let's tackle the problem from a different angle. A World Cup style tournament where we select our favourite albums for each decade and then a playoff with different brackets to establish which one is the best.
Of course only one album per band is eligible so we have to do the qualifiers first. Then we'll do it for the Stones, Kinks, Who, different regions of the US, different genres etc.
It's a complicated system and I've just come up with it while taking a shit, but it should work, trust me.
Results will only be available after poll closes. If we can get to 15 votes I'd say it's a success.
poll closes in 5 days (7 April)

Great thread. I love pointless lists/ranking things.
Voted Revolver as it's the one I listen to most nowadays but my answer has been white album and Sgt Peppers at various points in the past.

I was very torn between Sgt. Pepper's and Magical Mystery Tour. I love the wackiness of MMT and it being basically a patchwork of an EP soundtrack and non-album singles. But I eventually decided to vote Sgt. Pepper's because I still think it's their most accomplished work, their most meaningful and most British.

I think when Judgement Day comes God will split us in two groups - those who dig the medley on Abbey Road and those who don't. I'll be standing proud amongst those who think it's a waste of time and magnetic tape. And if that means I'm going to hell, so be it.

Would have been great if you made that into Chris Rock / Will Smith meme. Anyways the greatest album is Pet Sounds. SRK must have too much snow between his ears.

Fuck's sake, if eddie agrees with me on anything, it usually makes me question every opinion I've ever held on ANYTHING.
