It's round two of the qualifiers guys, and as the Beatles poll is drawing to a close, it's time to determine what's the best album Bob Dylan made in the 60s. This is tough, so I invite you to go back and listen to all of these records if you haven't already - they are all five stars LPs and all historic for one reason or another. I could personally make a case for why any of these five albums is more significant than the other four. It's very very tough. As usual, there's no right or wrong aswer, but if your favourite Bob Dylan album of the 60s is not among these, you're a CUNT and need to change HOBBY and possibly DIE. Remember that all these records we're picking are going to battle head-to-head in the playoffs, so you can see how FOREVER CHANGES shits all over them. Results will only be available after poll closes. Poll closes in 5 days (10 April)

I believe most people will go for Highway 61 Revisited, but yeah, this is a good time to go back and revisit all of them, looking for the finer details, trying to get a sense of how Dylan evolved. Pay special attention to the eternally underrated masterpiece that is Another Side of Bob Dylan, which is probably the true turning point in Dylan's career - way more important than him going electric, this is where he went "poet" and started abandoning pre-determined chord progressions in favour of a more free approach (My Back Pages) - the chords went wherever the melody took them, and the melody was determined by the lyrics: this is basically the foundation of the albums that followed.
Or listen to Bringing It All Back Home, It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding) for example. Especially the fabulous version premiered in 1964 (available on Live 1964, Bootleg Series Vol. 6), where a talkative and responsive audience gets complitely annihilated by this new type of song whose magnitude they couldn't even comprehend (you could've heard a pin drop during the performance)!
I voted Blonde on Blonde because it's a type of sound that didn't exist before and hasn't really existed since. And while it's more of a collective effort and not everything on it is attributable to Dylan (the producer and the musicians contributed so much - if you listen to the Bootleg Series vol. 12, all the songs sound the same before they put their own spin to them), I'm not rating the artist but the work, and Blonde on Blonde is just a work of art.

NONE OF THESE IS BETTER THAN ABBEY ROAD THOUGH You're just pissed off because none of the polls include your two favourite albums ever: LET IT BE and NASHVILLE SKYLINE.

Highway 61 is *better*, but I prefer listening to bringing it all back home. And any of you that pick any of the acoustic albums should be shot into the sun.

Blonde on Blonde for me, I think. Though Highway 61 Revisited is the record that always first springs to mind when I think of Dylan.

I won't get around to hearing the records again before the deadline, but it's really a coin toss to which I prefer depending on mood.
I'll have the same issue with the inevitable Stones poll too.

What sick cunt didn‘t include Blood On the Tracks as one of the options?
You only did it cos you knew it might challenge Blonde on Blonde for the title, and you weren't having it. Eh?
This is more fixed than Qatar getting the World Cup.
I'm gonna tactical vote.

I've just realised it's 60s only.
Pointless.

Just for the sake of pointing out the obvious, Blonde on Blonde is the best of his 60s albums.
I've changing my mind. I am voting.
