Laura Marling's the last big one for me this year. Love the couple of songs she did on Jools Holland last week.

have to admit i found marling a bit dull on first listen compared to her usual high standards. i wasn't that taken with the singles so had a fear this may happen.
will stick with it as im sure this has happened before with her work and ive gone on to love it.

tbh i have really enjoyed that first listen and reading a couple reviews with it, she was a pending task of mine and this sounds like the moment I'll jump in
side note, i'm going to be a grandpa! not even a father myself so it's been quite funny become the first between of all my friends and my sisters (10 years older). lots of thoughts and conversations about parenting around, the good and the bad, so this record in a way enters my life at a point where i'll be paying much more attention than a couple years ago at any other point of my existence

new Laura Marling is bloody lovely. I put it on in the background earlier and thought it had a few moments but sounded somewhat slight for her though I've just given it my full attention now & wow, she's done it again.

i'm going to be a grandpa! not even a father myself C'mon Barns, you're not a "grandfather" now. You're just shagging a very old woman who has grandkids of her own.

The new LP by Fievel Is Glauque, I only heard the two singles but they are fantastic (especially As Above So Below). The way I see this band, they must be a bunch of musicians who grew up with Canterbury prog and post-Bop jazz who are trying very hard to make a pop record. You can never tell what twist and turns the songs are going to take. They are brilliant.
