I think it's a miracle this year I managed to get to 10 albums, mind, but I'm still participating. Can't let this place be turned into THE MURPHBOX.

Not gonna lie, today has felt a bit flat compared to yesterday's epic engagement.
I think big Tom Meighan is on course to be the most interacted with post on the whole list. Proving there is no such thing as bad publicity.
I'll learn from this and in the future not be so quick to bin off The Reytons and Skinner Brothers.
Wife beaters > token jazz and soul acts.

I might have a top 5 this year.
I got my number 1 on lockdown.

I respect that Steve. It's good to see the icons of the 'box show up when it matters. all coming together to ensure that Hackney Diamonds reigns over Dwayne.

Think I should be able to pull together a top 10 or if I’m stretching it, a top 15. (After all, 3 members of Canada’s beloved tragically hip put out solo albums this year, including one who’s been dead for 6 years!)

This is wonderful news SRK. If only Krburg could be as dedicated to the cause.

Face it, the whole end of year list thing was killed stone dead when Manoney included that Juan MacLean compilation

I was going to check out Cory Hanson's record as I've seen it featured on some 2023 lists buuuuut the actual single he released afterwards is fantastic, especially the bsideboth tracks. Like really, really great. So no time for the record to make my list, looking to listen to it anyway.

Fuck me, just this morning I already have 3 albums I'd like to check because they might feature my list. That would also prevent me from re-listening some others and completing it on time... Life is simply too hard sometimes

Still a fair bit of work needed here. I fear I may be late. Not Burgess late, but late nonetheless.
And it definitely won't be worth the wait.

I'm happy to run a Ted Talk on how best to record all facets of the consistent administration and capture of an EoY Best Album list. I can take a deep dive into the quality metrics used as well. It is there if you guys want it.

I can't help but think the end of year list is an afterthought for the majority of soapboxers.
It's a year round job lads. You're either in or you're out.

I am most definitely in.
I have a RAG rating in place for each album.
Green for fixed scoring and no need for more listens. Amber for one most listen if you have the time and desire but we are pretty close here. Red for needs more listens.
This is called structure which is the enemy of the kind of chaos filling up this thread currently.
I would fully endorse a temporary banning policy be put in place for each member dragging their feet on this OR we could possibly give double marks to those who show a structure and methodology behind their choices that goes beyond 'I saw this album on a list so I included it'.
Thank god for Barny offering to calculate and produce the overall forum list. Cheers Barny!

From the language being used in this post I am guessing you work in Financial Services, possibly administration of some kind. While I'm not wholesale against business practices being introduced into something like this, I think the overt corporate vernacular being used is a big red flag. I would strongly recommend that my fellow forum members support me when I say that this kind of business bullshit should be kept for your Thursday night after work sessions in Corney & Barrow. RAG rating FFS. Looking forward to your list btw.

Keep with the programme titch.
Everyone worth their salt on here knows Sam is THE major player when it comes to exam management.
You've taken an exam? Sam was probably the one to write the paper.
Have a little respect "financial admin".

In which case Sam, you have my sincere and humble apologies. The intention was never to sully your good name.
I am however, despondent to learn that RAG ratings have been introduced into the education sector.
This country. I despair.

I teach in a College and we recently had to do our own course reviews and give them a RAG rating.
