I finally watched part 3 and fucking hell. EVEN STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN!!!
led zep are basically the most succesful covers band of all time. hats off to them. but they can't really be considered to be a proper band with songwriters can they?

Who gives a fuck if they ripped people off or not. Last time I checked Oasis were pretty popular on this forum, and Noel G has made no secret of his obsession with borrowing melodies.
I'd say that 70 per cent of Led Zep's back catalouge is utter bilge, pretty much unlistenable to these days, but the rest is fucking epic. And let's not forget the fact they included some of the best players ever seen, and were one helluva live act. Some of the biggest rock n roll ever.

Last time I checked Oasis were pretty popular on this forum, and Noel G has made no secret of his obsession with borrowing melodies. . thats not the point, the point is that whilst noel is open about stealing led zep deny it even when its blatant. aside from that its one thing to take a bit or even a lot of someone elses song and slot it into your own which noel does but led zep seem to have taken other peoples songs and/or arrangements in their entirety and passed them off as their own. where noel sticks a bit of george michaels freedom into fade away, led zep would cover the whole song and stick "written by page and plant" in the credits. |

I agree, that's not cricket.
But plagiarism aside, they were still an incredible band. Some of the criticism leveled at them in this thread is laughable frankly.

numerous songs of that band has co writing credits with others. it's not as if it's gone completely unnoticed. the video isnt about those songs with shared credits, its about the ones credited to led zep |
