Poop, another show canceled this week, this time cause of the foot and a half of snow on the ground. White Lies. On Asobi's guestlist, so thats why I was going and I was excited to hear the new stuff live, but I got them at Mercury at the release party next month. Ah well.
Yuck actually made it into town yesterday and played their scheduled Brooklyn gig last night. I was supposed to see em on Tuesday. A friend of mine got stranded in Brooklyn last night as MTA shut everything down, so Im glad I didnt even consider venturing out there.

Going to see John Cooper Clarke for the fourth time tomorrow I honestly can't get enough of him. He tells the same jokes and recites the same poems, but every show still manages to be different.

I think how at ease he is with an audience and his interaction & on the spot humour are what make seeing him worthwhile time & time again. I saw him last year, Frank Sidebottom supported.. he was dead a few months later

I just had a look through songkick at recommended gigs for the next couple of months. There was probably a good 20 that without a shadow of a doubt I'd of gone to a couple of years ago. Now I think 'ah seen them recently' 'the venue is crap', 'ticket is pricey' 'it's a fucking sunday'.
I don't mind, it's saved me a ton of money lately but with rising prices in drinks/transport & gig tickets quite often now makes me think twice about if I want to go or not.

Yeah I suppose it's like any hobby or interest as time goes on things get more expensive, people have less of a passion or willing for it & other priorities come into play.
Right now I'm happy watching a couple of films & falling asleep. Am I cracking up, or just getting older.
Upcoming gigs I'd of gone to but now have shit excuses: The Vaselines tonight: Seen them recently Archie Bronson Outfit saturday: would of gone 100% few years back, didnt bother with their last album so wont go to the gig. the bees, can't be arsed black angels, can't be arsed, only really like the debut P.J harvey - too expensive PAINS - seen them too many times in a short space of time
thats just in the next month.

It's pretty much an hour and a half from the minute I leave my house to getting to a TCOTU venue. I don't mind getting in late, my jobs pretty handy for that. Just crack on with it and go home if your tired/hangover.

There's a brand new venue round the corner from me (old victorian warehouse called 'the bussey building' where no age are playing in april), that's a few minutes walk. Brixton is 20 minutes, most of the north TCOTU and west TCOTU venues are an hour tops. Central TCOTU about 35 mins. Troxy- 40 mins. The o2 is about 40 mins. This is a really boring post. Sorry

Gruff Rhys is doing a wee all seated gig five minutes up the road from my flat tomorrow. I guess I'll be going to that.

Anyway... if it is or isn't. One of the great perks of living where I live in Minneapolis is; just like seems to be your case in Leeds abs, is that If a band does come here they're playing one of the 5/7 venues that all happen to be within about 10/15 minutes walk from where I live. Lahndon.

Lahndon. For a start Abs said apartment instead of gaff so he's a cunt. Secondly it's different strokes for different folks. 15 minutes walk from your gaff in your tiny city means the same people going to the same gigs and drinking in the same pubs (or bars in Matty boys case) etc etc. I bet you wear the same clothes too. 300 strong in electronic equaliser t-shirts doing 30 quid Es. It sounds melt. Different venues, different people, different vibes. Brixton, Shepherds Bush, Camden, Embankment etc etc. All with their own little vibes. Variety is the spice of life. Catch my drift? Thirdly no band gives a shit about Leeds or America in general. We get passion in the centre of the universe, all your gigs are phoned in by bands who wished they were in TCOTU. Fact.
