So what's the deal here?
I've (and like) both The Dandy Warhols Come Down and Thirteen Tales... and thoroughly enjoy them both.
They obviously featured prominently in DiG! with BJM, etc...
I've never gotten super into them mind, but they're coming around to town next week and I won't want to miss them.
Obviously everyone knows Bohemian Like You... And from what I understand they're much more popular actually in Europe than in the UK/States.
Anyway, I think that Godless/Mohammed/Nietzsche is one of the best three track combos in record history FYI but i've still not fully "gotten into them" so to speak...
Any words of wisdom, thoughts, likes, dislikes, etc...?
All I know is i'm looking forward to them next week and that this is a huge performance!

Godless is a quality tune and the rest of that album isn't bad but it's not that great either really, is it? Not bothered to delve any further because that album didn't really grab me and mainly because they come across as self important rejects in Dig!.

Some brilliant tunes but also a lot of crap
Probably their best 2 tunes

13 tales is very good and I even like their back-to-the-80s album. Saw them live in 2003, it was pretty good, maybe a tad overlong.

Good Morning is a fantastic tune. Sadly, other than that I only know the two hits and neither of them is great.

Ive always wanted to like them, but never could really because their albums are so weak. Usually two or three good track and the rest is piss. Their sound is always good though. They were huge around the time that song we used to be friends was on the radio.

I love all their albums and listen to them quite often.. Having said that, they are fucking terrible live. The gig I went to a few years ago was the most disappointing gig I've ever been to. Once you hear Whatshisface sing live you realize you can never bitch about Liam's voice ever again.

wildly inconsistent on record for mine. theyve come up with and i genuienly mean this, some of the best rock n roll of the last 20 years, but in between times some very boring noodling that goes nowhere.
ive seen them live once, and i have to agree with unintended it was a dissapointment, i was very hyped for it admittedly, but they didnt come across very well by anymeans and courtneys voice wasnt strong. its a lazy comparison, but the two times ive seen BJM on the other hand, they blew my mind, especially the 2nd time.

Well damnit. I'm gonna go but if I leave disappointed I guess I can't say you guys didn't warn me. And yeah I agree on the albums. Lots of random nonsense, a greatest hits would be big though! I mean you listen to Godless/Mohammed/Nietzsche and are blown away and then Country Leaver comes on. WTF ARE THEY PLAYING AT!

My favourite record of there (by an absolute fucking mile) is 'Dandy's Rule OK?'. I've not listened to them in a while mind, might put them on later while playing a bit of FIFA.
