 whilst i wouldn't go as far as mahoney, i must say that i am finding high violet a wee bit dull. it seems to have a real lack of energy. hopefully it will grow on me but right now i get quite bored listening to it. |

High Violet took ages to grow on me. I like the first two albums, love Alligator and Boxer is one of my favourite records of all time but I found HV really dull at first until it started to click track by track. Solid album if not as good as the last two.

I definitely prefer it over the album version, but the Castle Rock Session remains my favorite and IMO the definitive. But heres the alternate version, out in a few weeks on a new edition of High Violet lol definitely prefer this. i don't really like the album version all that much, but this version is really good. |

yea the album version is last compared to that one and the Castle Rock version (also in this thread)
As for High Violet, it was immediate for me, but the anticipation of the gigs and then experiencing it live so soon after hearing it the first time was a major contact high. I think its their 2nd best record, but I was into HV from Day 1.
