so instead of at least a bit of link to the original trilogy it will be a generic scifi movie with a star wars skin.
the prequels were bad enough already. part 1 had that annoying orange cunt (no, not talking about you axl lol!), part 2 looks like a 2005 video game and part 3 had too much of bad acting. plus the casting was awful all around.
plus this 3d fad has to die, but that i've said already

The 3D fad will not die sadly. Its a lucrative revenue stream.
I cant say I really enjoyed the prequels, but I dont hate them. I can watch them even if they are cringeworthy. Babs is dead-on with the casting, outside of Palpatine (who was in the original trilogy lol) it was pretty much shit at every turn except for Ewan McGregor. He was an absolutely perfect choice for young Obi-Wan, but George Lucas' scripts for all 3 of those movies were complete shit. The only memorable moments from the prequels for me are the intro of Darth Maul, nothing in Clones, and the section of Sith when Anakin gets the shit kicked out of him and Vader is created. Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman had the worst chemistry Ive ever seen on film. It was non-existent. Christopher Lee was a wise choice for Dooku. Sam Jackson was stunt casting at its finest, but I thought he handled himself ably, its just the script sucked so much fucking ass.
I remember we went to see Episode 1. That scroll starts and its trade federation bullshit. Something was amiss immediately.
Ill wait to pass judgment on sequels until we hear more. Keep in mind that when the prequels were first announced, he also planned on doing the sequels. Creating a new "family" is absolutely fucking stupid though. You'd probably have to push it past Han/Leia/Luke's generation because the actors are so fucking old now (still possibly useful though depending), so it'd prob focus on their kids, which is okay as long as shit is explained as to what happened in some manner.
If Lucas writes it though, its going to be shit. The motherfucker can't write worth a shit. Great storyteller, horrible screenwriter, and he's lost his touch as a director (American Graffiti and THX 1138 are brilliant!).
I think thats why he'd even consider doing the sequels after backing out the first time, he wants to direct again. Its his baby, so I cant fault him, but Id like to see him treat it like the original trilogy, where he directs only one of them. And he needs to cut back on digital so much this time. Organic works great in sci-fi. Mix them up Georgy.

Very good post.
But what really killed them for me was the over use of CGI. I can stand some bad acting and some bad scripting (shit the original ones aren't that good either anyway). And it's okay if a movie doesn't have the greatest effects if it's done charmingly and with some kind of warmth. (Again, as in the original) But the CGI just made everything feel and look so plastic and boring. Can't believe no one stood up against it back then.

Yeah, CGI overkill for me too, plus horrible acting from the leads (minus Ewan McGregor obviously cause he was alright). I don't know, they should just let it rest as it is, keep making those animated films for the kiddies and leave the live action films alone.

he's hot... but he's like a block of wood trying to act i only really enjoyed him as Anakin at the end of Sith when he fought with Obi Wan. And Ewan McGregor was *perfect*. The birthing scene was the worst piece of acting I think I've ever seen from Natalie Portman I agree with everyone on the CGI too. I'm kind of torn because I'd be interested to see where he takes the story next, but I just think sometimes he should leave well enough alone.
