it's really really nice. somehow he always puts words on my thoughts and probably a lot of else's too Kinda worrying that he's about 7 years older than me. he's got a little song about the place where I grew up too. it involves the word white trash. you a fan backstreet?

been listening to broder daniel loads during the last few days. played some håkan to my gf and she was all "man, this just sounds too swedish" i think she might be right, but unlike her i see it as a good thing

yeah, perhaps you're right on that one babs. Noel though, produced a shit loads of great songs before.
i dont think he sounds like the ordinary swedish pop band, just better and broader. In the best way broader can be.
Broder daniel are ace. shoreline is one of the best songs ever written (hey english folks, its in english!)

I would like to take this opportunity to say that Mando Diao are one of the best bands ever and undoubtly one of the most underrated, having three stone classic records in my eyes.

people should really know about swedish indierock beyond the mando diaos

people should really leave aside all the indie bollocks and the origins and enjoy a fuckin' good rock'n'roll record

aye, but it's rather sad that most people only know mando diao because of marketing, their looks and because their songs are in english. you say you enjoy a fucking good rock'n'roll record but at the same time miss everything else as "indie bollocks" what does it say about you?
mando diao are pretty good btw. not enough great songs but i enjoy them anyways

I don't miss anything tbh, I just don't like tags. When I first heard them knew fuck all about them being a sensation in Sweden (in fact I don't know if they are) but couldn't understand why that record wasn't getting the praise it certainly deserved. They have gone a little downhill for the last couple of years, but are one of my favourite bands ever, who cares about looks and marketing if the music is great.

yeah but you're not willing to dwelve deeper into the scene because it's "indie bollocks" and your favourite media (nme, xfm, mtv2, whatever?) hasn't featured them
that is what i'm about

My favourite media is the soapbox tbh, I'd be glad to give a try if someone with similar tastes turtles anything

Forgot to reply to this when I saw it some weeks ago.
Can't say I'm that much of a fan. I appreciate his live concerts and I see the beauty in his music but it has never really grabbed me fully.
Kom Igen Lena is still a massive tune though. Even if it's a rip-off.
Barny:
I agree with Babu that there are so much more Swedish music that you should hear. Don't settle with Mando Diao. (Even though they are good.)
I'll try and turtle some stuff for you later. Would be much easier if you had Spotify though.
