He was going through a hard time last year. He was clearly the faster driver, just too many individual fuck ups.
I don't think that tbh, unless there's a british driver I find F1 to be incredibly dull so i wouldn't know anyway. I just love the fact the anglophobic bellends get so worked up about him.

do you honestly think that? theres not much to base it on. especially after button owned him last season course he don't. last season was real shit for lewis. needs a bounce back. show em who's boss.

I'm eager to see what can the finger do with a "normal" car. Very disappointed with Ferrari but at least we can see Alonso's skills taming the beast. Great season ahead!

fantastic race from button today, so happy he won and he was hugely convincing in doing so. other things worth noting:
- mclaren and red bull are clearly very evenly matched, at least in terms of race pace. and I suspect they will be in qualifying as well. maybe mclaren a tiny bit quicker, but we're going to see nothing like the single team dominance we saw last year, thank god.
- not content with helping him fluke his way to a championship, petrov did his level best to help f1's flukiest driver to the win today. not being entirely serious here, vettel is a top top driver and had a great race today, but boy do the dice seem to roll in his favour time and time again. the best safety car he's had since monaco last year easily.
- alonso showing that he's still the best driver, IMO. did an awesome job with a pretty shitty car, and for me he's the only driver out there who consistently out-drives his car.
- hamilton is the number 2 driver at mclaren at this moment in time, difficult to argue otherwise. still hugely quick but struggles to maintain his speed over race distance. will win more than one race this year though, that's for sure.
- Mercedes nowhere near as quick as a lot of people thought they would be. lots of work to do for them.
- it's going to be a hugely entertaining season in the midfield. the top two teams look some way better than the rest, but after that there's 4-5 teams all capable of mixing it up and beating each other. can't wait.
great start to the season.

Not sure this is entirely fair, ok Vettel may have had the rub of the green last year but his 2010 championship was achieved despite being robbed of deserved victories in Bahrain, Australia & Korea. Still, can't argue about the safety car working in his favour today - in normal circumstances it would've been a brilliant tactical move by McLaren to stop Red Bull getting the undercut. Bigget winner under the SC was undoubtely Ricciardo though - wasn't he lapped before it came out and yet somehow managed to finish 9th.

nah you're absolutely right hence me saying i wasn't being entirely serious. there's no such thing as a fluked championship imo (although obviously some are easier than others) and vettel is clearly superb. and today even though he had some luck at the expense of hamilton, you can equally say that hamilton was poor in failing to take (or even challenge for) the place back with a car in which was slightly faster.
all drivers get lucky, just inevitably when it's the guy having all the success who also gets the luck you'll notice it a lot more, just like the days when i would get riled up during the schumacher era. plus that monaco race* really did leave a sour taste in my mouth.
*seriously, there's no way you should be allowed to change tyres if the race is red flagged and the cars are on the grid. shit rule.
as an aside, sauber were impressive today, and kobayashi + perez is certainly a 'dynamic' line-up. they could have a great season.

Perez has an extra motivation, he could be Massa's replacement for next season.

Alonso on top. Nice but doubt it will last, Ferrari seems so far away from their competitors yet. Sauber and Perez though, were amazing.

What a race, Alonso was magical, one of his best performances ever (with a touch of required luck). 10 F1 titles on the podium, glad for Schumacher and Raikonnen too. Webber was amazing too.

great race yesterday. shame for vettel tbh as before yesterday the red bull had looked like its reliability issues were a thing of the past. the safety car obviously hurt him as well but at valencia it's pretty much inevitable you'll get one at some point.
alonso is fucking brilliant. yeah the luck went his way but he still won from 11th on the grid, his unwavering belief in his own ability is breathtaking.
hamilton unlucky (despite his protestations, maldonado was definitely in the wrong there, he should have backed off because he was obviously going to pass hamilton soon anyway) but didn't look quick at all during the race. work to do for mclaren again.
