I think Stephen Fry is the second reason I can't be arsed yet I have grown to seriously love her work this year though. My most listened to female artist i think. She's great It's just the thought of a really long record about winter that I can't really get into the idea of. I hate long albums, add Stephen Fry and songs about shagging snowmen and it just doesn't sound appealing

Minus this I still only have really heard The Kick Inside which I fucking love. Bit wary of her 80's prime due to the production but I'll be digging in there properly next year so will hopefully grow to love it.
She went to Balldogs school you know!

she wouldn't guff during a Ryan Adams acoustic-set FFS I don't think she has a bad record, tbh. It's all great. Really love The Red Shoes atm. I love the way she managed to get Prince on one track, but put all the attention on Lenny Henry Maybe try her 2005 album, Aerial, Karl. It's a double, so long too, but both sides are about 40 minutes apiece, so do it over two sittings. A Coral Room, which closes side one, is about her mum dying, and it turns me into a right weeping fanny every time. So i have to listen to it locked in the toilet, so no one sees Rolf Harris keeps appearing on her records too

haha I've never heard of Rolf's involvement. I'll probably just go through in order of release as I've started to do with artists I'm not that familiar with but I'll eventually get through them all. Amazing to to think she wrote The Man With The Child In His Eyes when she was about 15. It sounds like Scott Walker. Theres a good documentary on youtube of her preparing for a tour early in her career. Not seen it all yet watched about 20 minutes worth weekend was great stuff.

Ah lovely, i will check it out. I spent a day going through various clips of her on YouTube a few months back. There's a great audio interview with Mark Radcliffe on there worth hearing. She seems incredibly lovely and down to earth as a person. Loves a spliff too Amazingly attractive too FFS

Yeah, she also has the squeakiest speaking voice ever. Top bird, just a bit batshit mental as well.
Shame she doesn't want to tour again but I guess in the days of everybody selling out arena tours in an instant it's refreshing to see that theres an artist that still won't compromise even when such big financial gain would be so easy to take.

Yeah, people think she doesn't tour through shyness or whatever, but according to her she just prefers to stay at home with her kid and work away in her studio. Seems fair enough. Like a better-looking Brian Wilson or summat

TBH she has said that she isn't comfortable on stage on a few occasions though also always tends to mention her family as well. Either way, fair play.
Tom Waits on the other hand should be forced to tour or get AIDS.

Look up the video of her in the 80s appearing live briefly with Dave Gilmour. It's the most 80s looking shit imaginable There's meant to be a really good Kate book, Under The Ivy. But it never goes down in price, and I'm never paying 12 squid for any book Though i did buy that really thick Hitchcock one about a year ago for a tenner, and still not read the cunt

I have about 40 books. I've read the mick foley story & the one where Billy Childish gets the train from Chatham into TCOTU, goes to soho buys a porno rag, goes back onto the train and into the toilets and has a wank on the way home.
All the rest I've not got around to.

haha somebody had to buy it I suppose. I've no time for books. Whenever I sit down to read one I get tired and fall asleep. Too many records & films to hear & see before I die.
Maybe I'll take on Ana in a book reading challenge in 20 years time.

its bradford cox the bloke from deerhunters solo project. tbh i wasnt that impressed with the lp he released this year on first listen but his previous couple were amazing.
tbh i dont think it would be your cup of tea, hes had tracks featuring guest vocals from members of animal collective before, surely thats enough to put you off.

Atlas Sound are top, i'm sure Mahoney would like the first two albums.
Haven't got the new one yet but Let The Blind Lead... and Logo's are good albums.
The debut 'Let the Blind Lead' is really good, dead shoegazey, i'm certain you'd like it.
