wimbledon gets going tomorrow. djokovic & pliskova won eastbourne titles. federer won halle again. federer looks favourite tbh. women's looks way up for grabs. bouchard out 1st or 2nd rd looks about the only safe bet.

Why is tennis seemingly the only sport where the crowd want the glorified millionaire to beat the unknown underdog? It really gets on me tits and I realised it's why I don't enjoy watching it. I figure it's because the crowd are generally upper class toffs who only want to boast over dinner parties how they saw Nadal overcome the equivalent of the homeless tramp. Correct me if I'm wrong though?

I'd have loved if you'd said 'you idiot kid, you don't have a clue'. Shame on you barny - now back to your dinner party!

I simply disagree with that rant, can't understand anyone being angry after such a great match.
In my opinion the cool thing with individual sports is there's no money invested in making a team win or whatever. If someone becomes a millionaire is only after his own effort and talent. The underdog is always cool but this season the underdogs might be some old guys who are coming back after a couple mediocre years and also happen to be the best tennists ever. And for one last dance we should enjoy it before it's gone forever. That's why this game has been so great too, no matter the result it had become epic: game with more games Rafa has ever played and Muller being the second after Roger who beats Rafa twice on Wimbledon.

In fact Muller was nearly the favourite today, far from a homeless van driver who doesnt shave or shower.

The latter sounds like my favourite player of all time!! And when you say van, I certainly hope you mean cara!!
You can't deny it isn't full of yuppies only there cos they wanna see the superstar progress. It just annoys me there's so much support for the big seed and hardly none for the little guy. It's all the cheesy as fuck 'come on Rafas' that are shouted out between points also.
Anyway the reality is I love playing tennis but hate watching it. John O'Shea, you had a point.

Sure the crowd is full of cunts but it doesn't get on my tits that much.

True, it shouldn't annoy me and I should just enjoy the game but never do. I mean, who will become the first player to wear a pair of converse on court? The game needs more mavericks!! Dustin Brown is a dude.
edit: by now you've realised my issue is with the crowd, the clothing and the players. Haha. I probably shouldn't have posted in this thread, lolz. H8ER'S GUNNA H8.

Quite enjoyed that final even though I clearly hate watching tennis. The women's game is far more enjoyable than the men's. It's far more varied and although not true from a biological aspect, well, there's just less cunts involved.
Time for my final tennis rant: I still find it annoying that the women's final is called the ladies' final but the men's is called the men's despite being officially called the gentlemen's. Who's to blame for this, Wimbledon or the media coverage? Maybe when they start playing 5 sets also they'll stop being patronised in this way?

federer strolls to another title.
shame djokovic/murray have fallen off a cliff.
men's game is very flat at the minute.

Is it? Federer has been amazing the whole season, totally deserved and unexpected just a year ago.
