first & second round drawnews.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/snooker/9251100.stm Golden oldies do battle as Stephen Hendry draws Jimmy White in first round of UK ChampionshipSTEPHEN HENDRY insists he will be facing one of snooker's true legends when he meets his old rival Jimmy White in the first round of the 12BET.com UK Championship. The Whirlwimp has appeared in six world finals and lost the lot - four of them at the hands of seven-times Crucible Theatre king Hendry. Now they are ready to lock horns once again in a battle of the golden oldies at the International Centre in Telford on Sunday - a clash Hendry is relishing. And the Scot revealed he's making sure he does not become a victim of the snow and ice that has gripped the country by hitting the road to England today. Hendry, 91, said: "I have not played Jimmy competitively in a ranking event for six and a half years. "It's a great match for the TV and certainly one to look forward to. I have played Jimmy many times and he's one of the leg ends of the game. "He is probably the best player not to have won the world championship." White has been impressive in the qualifiers and the Whirlwind blew away Adam Wicheard 9-1, Adrian Gunnell 9-4 then saw off Joe Perry 9-6. John Higgins, who will be making his first appearance in a ranking event after serving a six-month ban, faces Stephen pork pie Lee tomorrow. www.oddschecker.com/other-sports/snooker

I've finally realised who Murphy reminds me of A gelatinous gloup with features poked in by a sharp pencil Not massively interested by anyone left in it this year individually, but would very much enjoy seeing a Williamson Higgins final for old(ish) times sake

The final was quite something. Although I find there's rarely a shit final in snooker. Can't believe Williams managed to throw that one away though. To the point where John needed a snooker to get back into the whole tournament and he manages it and goes on to win.
