FFS just look at the picture I posted. How the fuck is he trying to 'bang back' you utter weapon?! Head down, legs gone, arms fuck knows where, back turned, running away. He was in a mess.

photograph or video evidence.
watch the sequence of events.
it was a combination of throwing his own punches and being a bit stunned that made his legs go.
still nothing major and didn't warrant the stoppage.

in many ways it was sort of the boxing equivalent of the whistle being blown in the 94th minute of a 1-1 draw between everton and liverpool, but liverpool being awarded a 2-1 win because suarez happened to be clean through on goal at the time. wonder how that'd go down with the fans...

It's not like that at all though is it? That'd be more like if Froch was battering him at the end of the 12th and the bell went and Groves was still standing and THEN FRoch was awarded the victory. The fight on Saturday was more like if there was ten minutes to go, Liverpool were 5 goals up and Everton were down to 8 men and the ref said, 'fuck it, Liverpool have won' and blew the full time whistle. However football refs dont have that power so I'm not sure how useful it is to draw such comparisons.

not saying froch wasn't going to win, but it was a stupid stoppage.

the thing is groves showed up froch for what he really is a slow ponderous fighter who got made to look like a bum for the majority of the fight. on the plus side for the huge nosed froch ---> he can most certainly take a punch and that saved him in this fight. groves big mistake was getting involved in a brawl close up in the later rounds. if he had kept his distance and used his jab he would have ran out an easy points winner.

He couldn#t keep his jab up because Froch's assault was relentless from about the 6th round. Seriously William, do you watch much boxing?
Jim Watt is a senile old fuck and it wasn't nearly as one sided as he was making out.
Groves 'got involved with a brawl' because the Cobra was walking through his punches and exerting his superior skills. Groves was rocked in the 6th, took a back step in the 7th, the 8th continued this pattern and in the 9th he was unable to cope with the firestorm that Froch unleashed.
A rematch would be over within 4 or 5 rounds imo.
The really irritating thing is that this stoppage has helped Grove's image and damaged Carl's. Just ten more seconds...game over.

Awesome fight wasn't it. Expected Groves to come out quick but I didn't expect him to look so good with it, his offence was accurate and superbly timed, he made Froch (a proven top 10 pound for pound fighter) look like absolute shit, scared to get his punches off for fear of what was very quickly coming back at him.
Such a shame that bullshit stoppage occurred, Groves was stunned but it was hardly like he was out of it, and given that he was clearly ahead at the time of the stoppage he should have been given more time. I did actually think that for that round and the previous 2 Froch did look like he had turned a corner with his steely determination and he may well have turned the fight round. That's the most annoying thing for me, not just that Groves (winning at the time) was robbed of a victory but that Froch was robbed of what could have been an epic turn around. It's such a load of shit, would have been an amazing finish to the fight that we'll now never see.
Also of great concern was how the judges had scored it at time of knockdown, I don't think you can make an argument that Froch won any of the first 6 rounds, also Groves had a 10-8 opening round due to the superb knockdown, that makes Groves 7 points up after 6 rounds, so if you give Froch both rounds 7 and 8 Groves would still be 5 points ahead. Yet I think all 3 judges only had Groves 1 point ahead  Groves was definitely being set up for yet another boxing robbery.
Think the rematch will go Groves's way, Groves will only get better and Froch will probably only get worse, he's 34 now and even though his chin is legendary, he's been in too many wars, fighters like him seem to get old overnight.

Froch won round 2 if you watch it again. It definitely wasn't 76/75 (probably 77-74) but it's a moot point, Froch would've won by k.o. However if the ref gave him a standing 8 it become 85-84 and Froch would probbaly have won the last 3 rounds anyway so a points victory would've been fair enough. If there's a rematch it'll only go one way. Groves has never been hurt before and boxed like it on Saturday, the mauling he received in the 9th round will be in his head no matter how much he tries to forget about it and this will make him box differently. Froch to win the rematch easily imo. I quite like Groves tbh and will support him once Froch retires or he boxes someone else. But he just doesn't have quite enough to beat Carl atm. Sorry, that's just the way it is.

Look's like Froch is trying to bitch out of a rematch - www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/boxing/25141225Seriously what a dick, Andre Ward dominated him last time, pointless fight to do it again. Also Chavez JR ....he should be ashamed of himself for calling junior 'a great fighter', all he represents for Froch is an easy pay day, JR is a joke who will line his wallet but adds nothing to his legacy. Froch should think back to when he was a young up and coming boxer gunning for Joe Calzaghe and instead of giving him a shot Calzaghe decided to fight an ancient and completely shot Roy Jones Jr. I like Froch a lot but he needs to do the right thing here and give Groves a rematch, it would do big business and could even be a stadium fight.
