This leaked on new year's day, any opinions on it?
It's quite weird, very beat-driven and less epic compared to their other records, it shows they're hanging out with errors a lot I'd say.
Some bits on it are almost uplifting- one song's called george square thatcher death party, ffs. Haven't made my mind up on it.

hate to say i was a bit disappointed on the album. based on the title (foolish i know) i was expecting a very heavy album, would have been awesome to get a mogwai hardcore album

Yeah the title is somewhat misleading, but that not uncommon to Mogwai. To me it sounds like a follow-up to Happy Songs for Happy People (atleast Letters To The Metro), perhaps my favourite Mogwai album. I've only listened to it three times, but the new record sounds interesting and I'm liking it more with each listen.
And the best part is that they're coming to Oslo, so I finally get to see them.

It's not a misleading title. 'hardcore' in Scotland means a very different thing. it's a reference to tunes like this:
now if they'd an album that sounded like that, you would have been really surprised.
