so late to the party with this one but my unemployed arse has been watching a lot of it and smack these chops if it's not fantastic.
sharp, witty and bundles along without ever coming across as smart-arse. plus lorelai + rory are the dream mum-daughter fantasy.
it's immensely watchable and doesn't take the viewer for a dribbling spastic. gilmore girls<3

Definitely agree. One of few shows where nothing "exciting!!!!" had to happen every five minutes but instead a subject about a book could last as long as necessary.
Sure, they could have talks about a piece of gum for hours as well but it was always done with a tounge in cheek quality and genuine love about words.
Fantastic show and one I am proud to say I was a fan of.

Yeah, Finland are included in the Nordic only. Think it has to do with Norwegians, Danes and Swedes being able to speak with eachother fairly easy and understand eachother. Finnish is just fucking insane as language so they are excluded. They are special that way. As in so many other ways.

I've only watched it once or twice but I could barely keep up. They speak faster than the speed of light ffs
my best friend loves it though, maybe I should give it another shot.

I'm with babu on this one. The show makes me want to strangle women. sally, don't bother. and baz, get a fucking job asap because you're sharp mind is becoming increasingly, well like mine now when I can't find the proper adjective to describe your state tongue in cheek, you probably like that as you like gilmore girls bottom line for me with that show is that they, unlike in real life, get to a point in the talking. It just goes on and on and on (like babu said) with talking that had nothing to do with the characters life that doesn't necessarily had to go anywhere. But the talking betta has to. I hate her grandmother too. I think I got all that from that episode I watched. joke, watched some of it of course.

I rpefer The OC. GG was just an excuse for them to prance around in Gap clothes looking beautiful and spilling out a script that didn't mirror reality in the slightest. With a lot of autumn leaves falling around. Watched it when there was nothing on but I never felt anything for the characters bar the thought they were just pretentious northerners trying too hard to be cute and cool at the same time.

I've been subjected to the show for years now, Siobhan loves it and watches it on a loop thanks to owning the entire collection on DVD.
I have to say i can't disagree more with the vibe of this thread, the show is utter shit, it actually angers me when i watch it. I think it's the fact that it is so fucking twee, plus Lorelai and Rory are utter cunts, Luke is a fucking cunt, the Grandparents are cunts infact the only one in it i like is Kirk and even he's a fucking cunt.
The only slight saving grace about it is Joel Gion of The Brian Jonestown Massacre has a bit part in the last series. He joins Lane's band and there is a bit where they do a show case for a record label which follows the exact same formula as that bit in 'Dig' where Anton get's other peoples blood on his shirt. It's surreal to say the least.

Oh yeah, that's another thing that used to piss me off about that series, all the 'hip' cultural references and hipsterness disguided as small town USA culture, really pisses me off. Go listen to Toby Keith instead, Rori you pseudo-hipster nipple.

Go listen to Toby Keith instead, Rori you pseudo-hipster nipple. There is a bit in one of the episodes where Lane is grounded by her mental Korean mother and she has Rory come over so she can tell her to go and get the new Belle & Sebastian single, that sums up the hipster thing for me. Oh look we name dropped a cool pop band aren't we great!?! NO YOU AREN'T GREAT YOU ARE CUNTS!!!

Yeah FFS, I have no problem with cool band name dropping or cool musical references (I mean come on, I love The OC, they did that every fucking minute) but with GG it just reeks of trying too hard, I don't know, never really bought it, it didn't really suit their environment, their stories, their location... There's a scene with Rori and that cute "rebel guy" she leaves her bf for (ugh, see, this show's atrocious), and he's "testing" her to see if she's cool enough to hang out with him or some shit like that, and has her read some lyrics and guess what song it is and she's all like 'Guns of Brixton by the Clash, see I'm not that bad' (or something along those lines). I mean, what kind of writing is that? FFS In the OC however, whenever Seth name-dropped a hipster band they'd just made fun of him
