Q gave Morning Glory 2 (or maybe 3) stars........we all know what happened next....... almost every album after 1996 was hailed as the best since Morning Glory or a return to form (referring to MG, and not only by Q Magazine).....
reviews are mostly overrated tbh

& you think that sort of thing never went down with Oasis or 100 other acts? I'm not on some kind of windup, I'm just making a simple point that until you hear the fucking thing its hard to judge if the reviews are accurate or of an merit yet all you fanboys have gone straight on the defensive over it. Just chill out, I'm sure it will be worthy of all three stars Mojo & Q gave the same rating for BDI that that did for the latest KOL record, I hope Liam's boys can match KOL! I'm very chilled Karl, was just pointing out that KOL didn't get glowing reviews everywhere and that BE arn't of the size of KOL or Oasis, so there would be less pressure to unconditionally praise them.

Liam is the face of Oasis, Oasis have made magazines like Uncut, Mojo & Q a hell of a lot of money. They aren't going to dish out awful reviews. Just because BDI have started out doesn't mean they aren't gonna sell papers, it's liam gallagher.
KOL got good reviews in most the major publications. Rolling Stone, Uncut & Q which are possibly the biggest three all gave their latest 4 stars. Those 3 hold alot more weight then what any newspaper or website could come up with.

I really don't give a crap about reviews at the best of times. I don't give a shit when an album I like gets a bad review, so why should I when it gets a good one? ("Oh look, some shit music press guy thinks like I do! Validation!")

Until any of us have actually heard the record nobody can say if it's a good review or not. People saying 'great review' are just reading what they want to hear Of course, this review says what we fanbois want to hear but it does it with style and that's what made it really enjoyable. yeah, this ;D record may very well be awful but it's still nice to see a record by people we all love if we're honest getting some love from someone.

anyone who takes any review as gospel is a mug, however, it's fun to get a little bit of buzz going from song descriptions etc when we haven't heard the album.
q and mojo are both quite shit, q moreso. but i enjoyed reading the q review much more than the mojo one and i don't think it was just because it was more complimentary.

Q's alright.
They interview shit bands but it's generally always entertaining and their Oasis interviews were always the best of the bunch. The one in Argentina on the DBTT tour is probably my fave Oasis piece ever.
The BDI interview is a bit shit though. Far too much attention on the split and the new Liam 'happy' Gallagher. When you think in previous Q interviews we learnt things like his love of Spongebob and had quotes like "It's pineapple time" it's a bit of a letdown. Noel comes across as very, very sad as well.

("Oh look, some shit music press guy thinks like I do! Validation!") As far as my own music is concerned, I try to accept negative opinions gracefully so that I can also enjoy good ones!

Look, they can bitch and moan all they want, but this is the first extended opportunity anyone has had to ask questions about the breakup of the biggest band of the last 20 years to the principal players in the drama. This was an inevitability, and in all likelihood the same will happen with Noel when his album comes out. Hopefully if and when the next BDI/NG albums come out, it will have faded into the background. (It won't, but we can at least hope.)

About to work through the Q shiznit. As you say, their interviews with the band are always great too, so looking forward to a BDI hour

Hear/touch/taste/smell, it's more that I'm annoyed that they keep moaning that "all you want to talk about is what went down in paris"....well, what did you expect? Questions about flowers and sunsheeeeeeeeeei-un?

To be fair, i thought there was too much about "the incident" and not much about the music they're about to release.
