Has he ever released a duff record? Well you could argue that Tony Da Gatorra vs. Gruff Rhys from last year was probably that. I liked it for what it was, a self indulgent mess with a couple of good tunes but it's not something I'll revisit very often. Oh really? Didn't even know that record existed! Will have to check it oot. Gonna up that other record a bit later, so it'll be in that Tortoise bit that doesn't exist. Only 128 quality, though

Yeah he and Tony did it in six hours in the studio with very little time spent on writing so as you can imagine there isn't a great deal of quality control. I really enjoyed the couple of times seeing them perform together live but as a record a bit much for anyones ears. The single was real good though
As for FFA Coffi Pawb, it's ridiculous that their three studio records have not been remastered & released onto CD and even more insane that all three aren't easily available in whatever quality. I have two of them, the one you have in 128 plus Dalec Peilon which is in better quality though probably still ripped from a crappy old cassette. The compilation is remastered & has their best tracks so is definitely worth getting. It's essentially SFA minus few members, they go from early J&MC sound to a baggy sound to eventually sounding like the early SFA EP's. Like I say, for such a cult band with a good following its fucking weird that only this compilation exists.
As for the new Gruff LP it's growing on me more and more with each listen. Some of those melodies are getting stuck in my head & won't go away.

Never got the fuss tbh, but then what little i've heard (of sfa and gruff) has never moved me to sit down and listen properly. pretty much everyone I know loves sfa and as such I feel like I'm missing a limb. If some kind soul wanted to stick a best of up i'd love to give em another go.

Seeing Gruff the 11th of March. Tickets are 10 euros in the small 'room' of Paradiso, Amsterdam. You know exactly what the fuck is wrong with this world if Gruff Rhys is playing your town for 10 euros a ticket for about 300 people
