Not only potentially. van der Vaart was absolutely brilliant at Ajax and HSV and will be brilliant at Spurs as well. Madrid ain't a team for him (but he was still good) and at the World Cup he was shit because he played as some sort of left winger

Yeah well ok, maybe But just as long as he's 'the man' in your team (playmaker) he'll do a brilliant job. He's especially great at that for clubs like Ajax, HSV or Spurs. Real Madrid needs more versatile players, like Kaka or Ronaldo

i dunno. if we continue with the 4-4-2 then we dont need him. but harry has spoken a lot recently about the 4-4-2 being dead on the international stage and at the top level, and it wouldnt suprise me if we're about to make the move to the 4-5-1/4-3-3 that most of the top teams these days seem to use. if thats the case then van der vaart will be vital.
i wouldnt be suprised to see a spurs team of the following line up against the likes of inter milan...
---------------gomes--------------
corluka----king----gallas-----essou ekkoto
-------------huddlestone--------------
------modric-----------van der vaart------
lennon-------------------------------------bale
-----------------defoe------------------------

The official end of Liverpool as a big club? Being overlooked in favor of Brum?

To be honest he probably saw they were signing Konchesky and thought ''fuck that''

I think it was more like "It's Hleb or Konchesky, definitely Konchesky"

PFA Player of the Year fo sho, now tbh.

Surprised a BIG CLUB never snapped him up. Don't get clever bruv We absolutly have to go 4-5-1 now. The strikers have constantly proved they can't really play together and with that sexxay midfield I think we will smash in goals from everywhere. ---------------gomes-------------- corluka----king----dawson-----bale ---------------palacios-------------- ------Huddlestone----van der vaart------ lennon-------------------------------------modric --------------- --crouch------------------------ With an emphasis on keeping the ball and not whacking it at Crouch. B TEAM ---------------cudacini-------------- kaboul----bassong----gallas-----essou ekkoto --------------Jenas----Sandros-------------- Dos Santos--------------------------Kranjcar ---------------Defoe-------Super Pav------------------------ We must be the envy of the likes of Villa, Everton and Liverpool now. You can't argue with that squad

Real Madrid needs more versatile players, like Kaka or Ronaldo I would say Modric is the playmaker and will keep on being that. Can't see Van Der Vaart taking over that role nor have I ever seen him in that role properly. Might be because I can't look pass him looking like a massive cunt.

Spurs have an absurd amount of first team footballers en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tottenham_Hotspur_F.C.#First_team_squadDoes anyone know what their often mentioned 'wage structure' actually consists of, or is it just a vague feelgood phrase? I heard something about a 50k p/w limit, but they've admitted breaking to it several times for players as well haven't they? In any case there's got to be a hell of a lot of players right on the limit. I just fail to see how you could maintain a healthy football club with all of that on the payroll, not to mention meet the new UEFA wages/turnover rules coming in
