Welcome to the Soapbox Music Festival Draft! Now with revised conditions!!
Objective - The Festival
1. You are putting together a two day music festival to take place over a weekend sometime in 2011
2. Your festival may have multiple stages on each day. There is no strict guideline on this but be reasonable.
3. In addition to selling tickets for the event itself, your festival will be broadcast live on the Internet/Television.
4. Your festival will be held in the US
Objective - The Performers
5. You may draft anybody in music history (living/dead) to perform at your festival. You can assume they will perform at their best physical ability. The Beatles rule.
6. Non-musical performer picks are not allowed. Simon Cowell is not allowed. The Pope is not allowed. Megan Fox is not allowed. If you take Bob Geldof you only get him for musical ability.
7. Artists who have had a solo career may be drafted separately from a band they were in at any other time. Similarly if an artist has performed in two separate groups, but both are distinct, then both are draftable.
8. A band may only be picked once, regardless of any lineup changes it has experienced. However if a band has undergone a fundamental lineup change at some point in its career you should specify which lineup you are drafting. The Genesis rule.
Draft Structure
9. 25 rounds (21-25 are double picks so 30 picks total)
10. Standard snake but 3rd round is flipped
11. Trades are allowed. These should be announced in the thread before acted upon. Any dubious trade may be rejected at commissioners discretion.
Picking
12. Make your pick in a reasonable time frame
13. If you are active in any way on the Soapbox when you are on the clock this is decreased to 2 hours
14. Once the time limit expires you will be skipped. As soon as you return you can make up the pick. You do not lose your place in the draft for subsequent rounds.
15. If you know that you will be away from your PC for a long period then you can PM someone your next pick/shortlist to keep the draft moving. Ask in the thread for somebody to hold your picks.
16. Once you have made a pick please PM the person after you to let them know they are on the clock
Pick Writeups
17. Each pick should clearly be stated in its own post.
18. Preferable format is to include the round/pick number in bold at the top of the post. People should not have to struggle through the thread to find picks although there will also be a spreadsheet
19. For this draft it would be cool to post your pick as a youtube link with the name/writeup in spoiler text below. People can then click the link, close their eyes and have the artist revealed to them by the opening to the song you linked!
20. Writeups are strongly encouraged for each pick.
