i quite like zane lowe but a man who has proclaimed a fucking wombats tune as THE HOTTEST RECORD IN THE WORLD in the not-so-distant past needs to tread carefully up on that moral high ground

really dont get what all the fuss was about tbh. it seemed like more of an embarassed laugh to me - that he was elsewhere despite all laverne's hyperbole. dont really think he was ridiculing beyonce in any way at all.

On the other hand, Twitter was incredibly funny and entertaining throughout the telly broadcasts, and kicked the shit out of any forum going
EVEN THE ORCH WAS TWEETING DURING BEYONCE
AND JP, WHO SAID HE HATED ANNA CALVI, YET LOVED PLAN B
Was a neet of explosive chat and opinion, guyz
Funny to hear the crowd was actually pretty decent for Mozza, Karl, as they really sounded balls on the telly. Just shows ya, dunnit

Karl was going apeshit and probably didn't notice no one else was bar Big Man Crowd was pretty quiet and the whole thing didn't click at all really. We watched it with Columbia Rocks Man so he can confirm. The singalongs for Coldplay the following night were loud and delightful

Paul Simon's performance sounded awful on telly, but I think that was a sound-mix issue. Like his vocals were really low, and it sounded really flat I think he had the flu too

We left after two songs.
I'd have rather have had the one with the barnet play.

Just got back, gotta rush to Manchester as have to entertain some Americans..
But two things quickly:
1) Pulp. Best fucking thing of the weekend. One of the best gigs I've ever seen. A lot of people seem to have similar thoughts. Cannot believe all the apathy towards their Wireless gig. Seriously, fucking go if you can. Sensational stuff.
2) I was wearing my Screamadelica T shirt during Radiohead. Oh and I was on the fence, centre stage for both Pulp and Radiohead. Fuck yeah

There must be 50 ways to leave a Paul Simon gig. ;D Twitter users were doing their usual over reaction about the Zane Lowe thing, ranging from 'musical snob' to 'racist' QOTSA > Beyonce

There must be 50 ways to leave a Paul Simon gig. ;D Funnily enough the route out to the John Peel Stage for Vaccines was grid locked so must be 49

:DWithout a doubt, the highlight for me was Sam 2.0 doing a 3-5 minutes of freestyling. Amongst the start of it was the line "Find a girl and grab it, get a deer and stab it" I mean where do you get a line like that from? That had me in tears and it just get progressing. BBC fucked up not recording the Wu Sam Clan.

Here is my review of events as they unfolded:
Thursday
Left TCOTU at 8:30 and was there by 11:30. You can’t moan at that really. Found the tents and Mahoney and the rest looked like shit. That night tried to go to Baggy Mondays but it was too busy so went to the Wine Bar and shouted Oasis songs for a bit.
Friday
Had an evil hangover. Completely underserved and I still feel pissed off about it. Started the day like Mahoney seeing Cocoon who I automatically dismissed due to the hangover, the fact they were French and the fact they were boring. Next up was Stonefield who were completely unexpected. When I heard it was sisters from Australia I expected a couple of harps but they rocked it. Woudln’t download but fun to see.
Mona – I really enjoyed them but no one else seemed to care. I really enjoy the record though. The singer looks like an Italian gangster and they’ve got some tunes.
Wu-tang Clan – Totally unexpected but they were amazing. I don’t know anything about hip hop and got accused by Mahoney of being the whitest person he knows but they were a spectical. Nothing to dislike and they got everyone involved and it turns out I do know a few of their songs. Spent the rest of the festival shouting “Wu-tang clan aint nothing to fuck with”.
Bright Eyes – Only heard a couple of songs but again really enjoyed it. Flacko and the mrs both said it was a load of boring shit but I thought he was catchy enough. Maybe I was pissed.
I then spent 20 minutes standing outside a bar watching people fall over in the mud. I can’t underestimate how funny this was, all the weird characters come out at times like this. I then meant Chrissie/Columbia Rocks Man who despite bad press from Rod is well alright. He had weird group dynamics going on though. One of his mates looked like a cross between a wrestler and a fisherman and clearly lives on a diet of Tenants and the other one was a posh boy who pronounced all this T’s properly - weird. He was good fun though and I got the update on the Wynd and told him of the time Rod took a massive shit in my toilet and then left.
Morrisey – Had a great time here. I didn’t know enough songs but that is my fault for listening to my dad for too long, “What do do you want to listen to all that gay stuff for”.
Primal Scream – Started well, had to leave early because the bird drank too much and couldn’t stand up.
Saturday
Yuck – These were ok. I’ll definitely give them a listen but that is probably to do with recommendation. They didn’t blow me away.
Tinie Tempah – Sat miles back with some cider and enjoyed the fact it wasn’t raining. He was alright, the front was going mad but the sound was low at the back which was probably a good thing. I still dont know what a G6 is.
Paolo Nutini – Guilty pleasure. Got the crowed dancing right up to the back and covered Hot Chip and MGMT
Elbow – I know 3 songs and loved all 3 of them. The rest I could leave.
Coldplay – Really enjoyed. Hit after hit. Its amazing how 70,000 people can make the bland seem amazing.
Sunday
Don Mclean – Boring. American Pie was ok for the first 2 renditions then it got ridiculous.
Laura Marlin – Sounded like she had some nice songs, was more like background music to my conversation at the time though. I didn’t really invest enough interest but it was Sunday and 30 degrees.
The Vaccines – Sounded brilliant to me. Good catchy songs, loud enough and had a good tempo.
Eels – Loved it, very entertaining. Fucking empty though.
The Streets – Fucking brilliant way to end a festival. Mixed bag of songs and Skinner was fantastic up front. Not many people can pull off being a one-man-band and demand your attention that much but he did.
