Here is something for you all to bite on: If you like that record, then it's impossible for you to hate HC. it's like HC's little brother, especially on tracks such as Kill for a dream, which is almost a copy paste of The Cage's sound.

You're talking shite. The production alone is miles better on this album. Sounds nothing like HC.

I actually like the first half better than the second half. Didn't care for Standing On The Edge, Three Ring Circus, The Beat Goes On and Wigwam first time through. Maybe after reading everything the second half was built up more in my mind but I liked all the tracks from 1-8, no so much from 9-12 and The Morning Son wasn't too bad of a closer.

There's definitely a similarity between bits of this and the good bits of Heathen Chemistry; however it doesn't have the rank Noel-sung dirges, abysmal production or forced, turgid stadium ballads which characterise that LP.

Light production, especially the the drums and the bass sounds well close. That's not to say its a bad thing since i like HC. Just that it sounds lot the same.

I'm really glad The Roller is getting a lot of love, as it has happened to me too. Such a simple song growing on people after a while could mean the other melodic songs do it too. Still waiting for the release to listen to it, God knows why

Having spent the day with the album, here's my 2 cents
Liam is sounding better now, than on any album since Be Here now
Lillywhite was a great choice as producer, loving the overall sound of album
Liam still cant write a rock song, and should stick to the more acoustic & melody based songs
Three Ring Circus is the best song Gem has written for Oasis or Beady Eye, v pleasantly surprised.
Had Noel been holding back Andy Bell's best songs for the last few albums, judging by the quality of his songs here thats what it sounds like FLW, KFAD and TBGO are all highlights
The album is maybe 1-2 tracks too long, wouldn't be too bothered if Millionaire and Bring The Light had been left off final tracklisting
Chris Sharrock does a great job throughout the 13 tracks
The Distortion on Liams vocal on SETEOTN is pointless & very annoying, hopefully a high quality live version from the tour will be replacing this on my ipod
Overall, much better than I expected, 7-8 really great songs, bring on Manchester on the 6th

I had a fun listen. I'll let para speak for herself but on our first listen I really liked it overall. They should have left off The Morning Sun though. It really annoyed me it was so boring.
I'll need to have some more listens before I tackle talking this out track by track.
We are on our way to see The Love Language gig here in a bit. Should be good and it is on Valentines day here just down the street here in Des Moines.

alright so i've had my first full listen as well, i'm on my 2nd one now..
negatives: - quality of rip. volumes are a bit fucked, there are some noises here and there. kinda like a bad vinyl rip. - bring the light. it shouldnt have been on the album. - millionaire. bah. - for anyone. seruiously? like a bad badfinger cover or something. - beatles and stones - maybe not as bad i thought it'd be, but still. skip. - standing on the edge of the noise. i dont know, it'd be a decent bside i guess.
positives: - musically, wow. i HAVE to compare it to oasis, and plenty of bits and pieces on the LP oasis would never touch. maybe. - wigwam, beat goes on - they are both as good as everyone says. - kill for a dream, morning son - really good tracks - side B pisses all over side A. - liam's vocals - not as shocking as you could predict from the clips. - guitars - not bad.
6.5/10

Anyone else notice the parallel between the melody in Gem's Chinese Burn / Three Ring Circus? I quite like Gem, but his songwriting rarely excites me. Andy's tracks are the standouts. FLW still has to be the best thing on there.
Beat Goes On is the only new song from today that I'm an immediate fan of. Genuinely fantastic in most facets, even the lyrics (if you pretend that the word song isn't ingrained in every other song by Oasis/BDI). Sounds timeless. I'll probably laugh at myself for saying that in about 4 hours.
Millionaire has grown a bit, I quite dig the melody.
SOTEON seems boring and isn't dynamic enough. Maybe it'll win me over live.
Wind Up Dream sounds a bit like filler to me.
For Anyone sounds like it was written in ten minutes and not in the good Songbird sort of way. Bad 60s parody.
The Roller is indeed great and only gets better with time.
B&S -- I'm one of the odd balls that likes this, it's probably my 4th-ish favourite.
KFAD, Wigwam, Morning Sun -- Undecided... but definitely above average songs.
Overall I'd give it a very solid 7+. As with everything we've heard so far, I agree a lot of their tunes are growers. I think they're gonna put on a stunning live show.
