Not keen on this at all. I feel that the best material has already been heard (Four Letter Word, The Roller, Bring The Light and even Sons of The Stage).
There's a few decent sounds in there, particularly towards the latter half of it, but it's just not consistent enough. The drums sound plain and shit, majority of the lyrics are shit and overall it is quite bland.
Positives are: Liam's vocals. I like the lyric "You're coming in when it's light, you make it up to the wife" in Wigwam, which is a nice&refreshing tune if it weren't for the shit drums in the middle/breakdown part.
It could have been so much better, maybe it will grow; maybe it won't. 5/10
Save music now NG.

Four Letter Word has to be the best tune in the album, its basically everything that we want to hear from a Liam band.
The ballads are the best songs in the album, the rockers feel like fillers. Beatles and Stones, Wind Up Dream, SOTEOTN, and Bring the Light are very blaaa. Skip.
The Morning Son, The Beat Goes On, Kill For A Dream, For Anyone, Wigwam, and Four Letter Word are my fave songs.
I feel very indifferent about Millionaire, The Roller, and Three Ring Circus.
The Beat Goes On reminds me A LOT to Sean Lennon in Friendly Fire but I can't pinpoint the tune.

themex - totally agree with you. it seems that the "rock n roll" bit are awful. incomplete. and i'd take dadrock anyday of the week.
little by little > rock tunes from DGSS (except four letter word)

Where would World Outside My Room have fit though, Axel LongJohn? Post your tracklisting plz Don't really get the negative "why was BTL on there?" comments either. For me, it's the best and most exciting thing on there. With 4LW and The Beat Goes On close behind. I can't get with Beatles and Stones at all. It's like two seperate tracks slapped together, yet for me it just sounds like a mess and doesn't work. I like the energy of it, but should've been left off, i think. Anyone else get a bit irritated by the echo of every line in The Morning Son, btw? I like it, but that does my head in a bit Anyway, this is nowhere near as bad as i first thought. Growing on me with each listen. Can't say i'm not a bit underwhelmed and dissapointed, though. A 3 star job, atm IMO. Anyway, i'm off sick today, so will no doubt have another 27 listens

It's really interesting how split the opinion is on this album. I fucking love it, and if anything, it has grown on me the last 24 hours.

I'm quite worried/deceived with the rocking songs, judging by the clips and your comments. FLW is the most exciting one and don't really feel it. It's a shame the acknowledged dad-rock is the only one who knows how to write a rocking number...

gonna indulge my oldschool medferit and do track by track ratings:
four letter word - pretty fucking great tbh, loads of energy, terrific vocals, massive guitars. if this had been an opener on an oasis album we'd be jizzing ourselves. 10/fucking10
millionaire - really like this, got a nice melody and is nice and bright sounding. nothing amazing but solid album track. 7/10
the roller - total rip-off of various songs but don't really care, this is a cracking tune. love it and baffling that this was deemed not good enough for HC. 8/10
beatles and stones - i like the vocals, but it's pretty average really. goes nowhere and is kinda boring. 5/10
wind up dream - not getting mentioned much on here but i really like this, it's well sexy. more of this please. 8/10
bring the light - a bit like beatles and stones in that it's pretty boring and goes nowhere, but it isn't as kinky. 4/10
for anyone - don't get the she is love comparisions, this is way better than that. it's sweet. a nice solid 6/10
kill for a dream - i can see both sides of this one, it's either pretty great or quite shit. can't decide which yet. so 8/10 & 2/10
standing on the edge of the noise - sounds like a bog-standard oasis b-side, with good vocals. around eyeball tickler level. 5/10
wigwam - big, big fan. the first verses are genuinely awesome imo and the outro is great. it's lacking a strong middle section but i love the sound of this and think it'll be one of the few tracks i'm still listening to this time next year. 9/10
three ring circus - yeah, fine, this is good filler. i'll have this. 6/10
the beat goes on - see kill for a dream, only the other way around. so 2/10 & 8/10
the morning son - meh, not getting this much at all. some nice enough melodic touches but pretty dull. could see it being a grower, but for now 5/10

Where would World Outside My Room have fit though, Axel LongJohn? Post your tracklisting plz I dont know yet, ive got to hear the full thing a few more times, coz sometimes songs dont click at first. But i would put it in the middle of the record and remove bring the light or Wind up dream.

I dont know, Morning Son may not be what it could have been, but it works well as a closer. I see WOMR as a she's electric kinda thing, a little song between two huge tracks.
