I'll start it off nice and easy. I've been a bit quiet on the NSC MN Stars front lately but it's been a good summer.
Anyway this is from a few seasons back. We were thankfully drawn against some MLS opponents in the US Open Cup (The FA Cup equivelant) so we travelled down to Kansas City (nine hour drive) to face the an MLS squad (Kansas City Wizards) who are a league above us tbh in the US Open Cup. This is the banter that ensued, WE WERE 48 STRONG TBH!
massive times really. It was one of the biggest moments in Minnesota SOCCER to date.

good question der effe.
A few particular reasons. The United States is obviously fairly new to soccer in the first place... so there are a few main reasons here...
(a) Kansas City is one of the lesser supported teams with a lower attendance record in the first place
(b) this was the year that they were moving into a soccer specific stadium so were moving around multiple locations
(c) this is the most important the US Open Cup is pretty much ignored by everyone, people basically don't know it exists unfortunately. So unless you support a lower division side it doesn't even matter. Even when MLS squads face each other in it they attract a few thousand as opposed to the 20+ thousand they would get at an MLS game, etc... This game involved essentialy their reserve squad, no player of note played us in this match, it was all kids and trialists tbh.

I want to support Roda JC tbh as I've been to Kerkrade with my grandparents loads of time, is that OK?

Hahah you mean that? Why have you been to Kerkrade? Your grandparents have relatives there? It's not that it's paradise or something, The people there talk weird, I don't understand a word they say. I was there once for the -20 World Cup in 2005, for the Netherlands - Japan match. So as we stopped at a gas station so that I could buy myself some cigarettes this lady at the counter started talking to me. Because I didn't understand her I asked her if she could please talk Dutch or German, not a weird combination of both. She felt a little insulted but I honestly didn't understand her Their team is ok though, was kinda glad they didn't went down two seasons ago. They usually have a pretty strong squad, even beat fucking AC Milan in San Siro in 2002. I will even give you a picture of their topscorer of last season He was pretty good tbh, almost made it into the Denmark World Cup squad. I'm not going to support an MLS team though, I'll just stick with the Minnesota Stars in America. Two-Boys Gumede even started talking to me on facebook a while ago if I could help him and click on a link that was a present for his mother or something. What a legend

My grandmother is from Liège, and we have a home near there because of that and Kerkrade is about 50 kms away. Long story short we always used to spend weekends in that part of the Netherlands and I took a liking to it.
But yeah I agree with the language, hilarious times, I mean, that part of the world in general, Anytime i'm in Belgium, around the border or the Bruxelles area it's always a fucking guessing game, do you speak French, Dutch, both? none? maybe English?
Fucking love it tbh
Anyway MON THE RODA JC! More NSC Minnesota info to follow shortly...

Ah nice man, we've both been in the same, quite meaningless place in the Netherlands where less than 50.000 people live even though we live fucking lightyears away from each other. A small world it is. Such things always make me a little sentimental Haha Belgium is one fucked up country. Besides French and Dutch even German is an official language there (a very small part of Wallonia speaks German) but the Brussels area is very strange. It's officially part of Flanders, people used to talk Dutch there for ages but in the last I don't know how many years people mutually decided to start talking French, because it sounds more sophisticated or something But for the part of the Netherlands that you've been, they all talk Dutch but they just have a very uncommon dialect which is very hard to understand for someone who is from where I'm from. It is probably the nicest looking part of the Netherlands though, with hills and such (the rest of the country is as flat as a billiard cloth so 30 meters high hills really is something in here )

Well I have a particular love for Wallonia sir, my parents are French (NOT FROM NEWCASTLE) but all my grandparents from Belgium. and it's a peculiar place. France doesn't want it, it's not French, it's not Dutch and the Flemish side of Belgium doesn't want it either. So it's a bunch of weird French speaking people with Dutch-ey names (i have cousins named Hesselink and Merckx and things of that nature ffs!), AND I FUCKING LOVE IT. I literally go to buy bread in the morning in a town called Esneux and depending on the local girl working I either order in French, Dutch, Flemish, Wallon, English, German or an absolutely fucked version of all of those combined, and I find it absolutely amazing. I also love Steven Defour tbh, hope he comes to the MLS. And why the fuck have you signed Emile Mpenza? they're both fucked and he's not even the right one!

I've been there only twice or so (once to the Ardennes, it's BEAUTIFUL there and once to this festival called Dour near to the French border) but we always travelled through it when we went to France for our holiday. I also have an unhealthy love for France because of that (been there about 16 or 17 times for 2 to 3 weeks). Only have a love for the French countryside though, the bigger cities do not really bother me tbh Hey cool, is Eddy Merckx family of you? You know who he is? He's the best cyclist ever and he's more than a legend in Belgium Flemish and Wallon aren't languages though but dialects of both Dutch and French but I guess you know that. It sure makes Belgium an interesting country though. The people in here always belittle them and see them as a little brother or something, bit like the US vs. Canada thing I guess. But that's mostly about Flanders though (we only have Flemish television in here as well) Haha, Steven Defour. He's a good player indeed. He left Racing Genk to play for Ajax, did you know that? But he left on a free transfer because he proved Ajax was a step higher, either for the money he could earn and the level he'd play on. There's a gentleman agreement in Belgium that clubs won't sign players who do such thing though and Ajax decided to honour that agreement. Standard Liege didn't seem to bother it so they signed the lad. We didn't sign Emile Mpenza, it was just a rumour. We signed Mounir El Hamdaoui, he played for Spurs for a little while when he was younger. Good player
