Right, the 70s thread reminded me how much I love Warren Zevon, so I thought I could make a little collection for the people who heard of him but never heard him. Even though I know only his first two records, he's one of my favourite songwriters ever. Unfortunately his recognition has always been outshined by other monster songwriters who played on the same field (Bruce Springsteen, Elton John etc), but he really was an incredible songwriter and a splendid human being. I always loved his dark humor and his extremely personal (almost miserable!) lyrics. It is definitely worth a listen, believe me. I hope you like it, I've turtled a little collection of the best songs from his first two records, except for the last song called "My Shit's Fucked Up", which is just 10 years old now and it was a song he wrote right after (or shortly before) the doctor said he was going to die. If it's not the best way to go, I don't know what it is.

Nice one, I've seen the name mentioned a few times in the past but never heard any of his music. Will give it a go.

excitable boy is one of the great records of the 70s. 'Lawyers, Guns, and Money' is probably somewhere in my top 20 songs ever

yeah megaturtle is working one time out of ten for me aswell. By the way, I'm currently obsessed with the closing song of his first record "Desperados Under The Eaves" that has this awesome piece of lyrics "And if California slides into the ocean / Like the mystics and statistics say it will / I predict this motel will be standing until I pay my bill", classic Zevon.
