him and Zidane are the best in the past 20 years..hands down, different kind of players but both gifted with a unique talent

This is bet welching prick "ironically" playing stupid about football, so when he is ACTUALLY being stupid about football (frequently) he can pretend he's being ironic. Anyway, Messi will end up being the best of his generation, better than Zidane and Ronaldo (fat one) IMO, but needs to have one great World Cup to really claim that. He's got plenty of time yet though.

Only then can we really put him on whatever pedestal he deserves.

TBH if he keeps this form up until the next world cup then delivers on the biggest stage he will be without question the greatest player since any of us started watching football.

I see what you're saying, but if he carries on in this form and then has a storming World Cup 2014, what else will there be left to prove? We still put Ronaldo on a pedestal (quite rightly) even though he faded in the latter stages of his career. Waiting until the end of his career won't change the judgement.

Yeah, he could go incredibly downhill but he has already written enough golden pages in history to be remembered forever

Nah I don't think he's better than Diego. What he did at Napoli was like Messi joining Stoke and winning the Premiership and EUROPA League. Messi is playing is a team full of world class players. Not just world class but some of the finest of their and any generation. Napoli at the time weren't up to much, Maradona changed them into world beaters. But I agree if takes the next world cup by the scruff of the neck and wins it basically with his performances then he'd be up there
