These are the so far turtleed mix-tapes
01. Mahoney (mix for ton)
Turtle name: comp for ton - glenn helders special nuggets
My mix for the Ton-man is complete. Link Anyone else who fancies it obviously can give it a go too (all tagged & shit). Clocks in at exactly an hour, mostly garage sounding rock with a few oddities thrown in.
Glenn Helder's Special Nuggets
01: Dennis Coffey - Theme From Black Belt Jones
A funky Blaxsploitation instrumental
02: Eels - Tremendous Dynamite
I noticed you had not rated any Eels records on RYM. No idea if you've never really heard much by them or not but just incase, that is a good start
03: The Flies - I'm Not Your Stepping Stone
The best version I've ever heard of this song.
04: Ffa Coffi Pawb - Vallium
Gruff's band before SFA. This track could be by J&MC
05. Television Personalities - Silly Girl
Another I couldn't see any ratings for. My favourite song from one of my fav LP's
06: The Vaselines - The Day I Was A Horse
Same as above
07: The Tamborines - Sally O'Gunnen (demo)
Jonestown type band I've been going to see for many years. Had an album out last year but the original demo of this is still the best thing they've done
08: Smudge - Divan
Evan Dando has covered half a dozen of their songs on Lemonheads LP's. Top band
09: Roy Redmond - Ain't That Terrible
Top soul tune I found on an 'After Hours' compilation. Worth seeking out
10: Arif Sag - Osman Pehlivan
Some bad-ass Turkish Psychedelica
11: Rory Gallagher - Don't Know Where I'm Going
My fav song by my Mum's favourite artist. Bit of a Faces vibe to it.
12: The Remains - Don't Look Back
Fucking great Garage-band, every track on their debut is a winner
13: Neil Young - Homegrown
Debated about including this. I saw you hadn't rated American Stars 'N Bars on RYM. I think that's possibly the most overlooked record that Neil's put out.
14: The King Khan & BBQ Show - Waddlin' Around
Modern garage-rock, real good fun
15: Kilroy - Heart Of Stone
My bird's best friends brothers band. Like a garage version of the Small Faces
16: The Golliwogs - Fight Fire
17: Dino, Desi & Billy - The Rebel Kind
18: The Crystal Chandelier - Suicidal Flowers
19: The Coasters - Down In Mexico
Super sexy funky soul which I took from the Death Proof soundtrack.
20: The Cobra's - Goodbye
21: The Brogues - I Ain't No Miracle Worker
22: Baker Knight & The Nightmares - Hallucinations
16-18 + 20-22 are garage/pysch tunes I've stumbled across from various compilations. Though I avoided taking anything from the Nuggets comps as everybody must have those by now.
Wanted to put Elias Dread as the last track but realised I could fit 17 more tracks on without it.
02. Dan/Jollyboy/Horizen (mix for barny)
Turtle name: Dan's Mix For Bloody Barny
Hope you've not heard any of these. I like them. Hope you do too. And anyone else who gives it a whirl
Gone for a short n sweet mixtape, that's mainly catchy n rocky. It clocks in at around 40 of yer English minutes x
1. Eternal Summers - In The Beginning (2:22) - Found this recently on the LastFM player. Very good, rocky number
2. Art Brut - Bad Comedian (4:14) - Not a dig at you Barny, honest guv. Its just a tune

04. Ben (mix for retiredboxer)
Turtle name: For retiredboxer - mixtape
Retiredboxer and I have similar taste in certain respects, so I tried to include things I don't think he may have heard, which I dunno is possible on whole, or at least with this mix.
A "hard" version is turtleed in turtle, but I also turtleed it at 8tracks so its streamable and if anyone else wants a quick peruse, although the stream order gets randomized at a certain amount of plays.
Stream: 8tracks.com/ihave19voices/for-retiredboxer
1. Karkwa - Le Bon Sens 4:21
2. Wye Oak - Holy Holy 4:35
3. Young Buffalo - New Beat 3:58

11. Mogwai - You're Lionel Richie 8:29
12. Swans - Inside Madeline 6:37
05 Retiredboxer (mix for ben)
Turtle name: Ben's tunes
Yours is being turtleed as I type, I compiled tunes I've lately enjoyed, all fairly recent, and thought you might dig...it's fairly electronic as I saw you went to see James Blake the other day so I'm hoping you might be open for that kind of stuff, as well with some post/kraut rock tunes and some guitar pop. Also, I remember you have a thing for female voices so I added my mates sisters band called 'felix', let me know what you think!
Here's the playlist:
1. Apparat - Walls
2. Darkstar - Aidys girl is a computer
3. Kling Klang - Heavydale
4. Mogwai Mexican Grandprix
5. Kling Klang Heavydale (reprise)
6. Antoni Maiovi - The Thorns of love
7. Adele - Rolling in the Deep (Jamie xx remix)
8. Mount Kimbie - Blind Night Errand
9. Minks - Funeral Song
10. oOoOO - No Summr4U
11. Felix - You Are the One I pick
12. Hot Club de Paris - They Shoot Horses, Don't they?
13. Errrors - Dance Music
14. Magenta Skycode - Montag
15. Gill Scott-Heron & Jamie XX - Running
06. Krburg (mix for sandman)
Turtle name: Srsly BANGIN' D4ncE 4Loor FillaZ! (for Sandman)
Srsly BANGIN' D4ncE 4Loor FillaZ!
1. Sebadoh - License To Confuse: You seem to be a bit into a lot of the more recent indie bands with lo-fi leanings so I thought i'd throw a few oldies in, Sebadoh are Lou Barlow's band who is also the bass player for Dinosaur Jr, this is actually quite 'polished' for the, but they had a knack of writing some really great melodic songs.
2. Fugazi - Reclaimation: I love the way the lazy sounding bass and drums really counter against the frenzied guitars, very underrated band.
3. Nas - Made You Look: You didn't seem to have much of a taste for hip-hop so i've scattered a few throughout this mix, Nas in my opinion is one of the finest MC's to grace hip-hop, but the beat kills it for me here.
4. Prince - The Ballad of Dorothy Parker: Just because I love Prince and he doesn't really get much of a look in around these parts, this is probably my favourite Prince song, it's amazing that this was made in 1987, it sounds so disjointed and weird, but has a killer melody.
5. Sonic Youth - The Empty Page: I think Sonic Youth have been really overlooked in the last decade, they released some great music in that time that'll never get as much attention as their late 80's stuff, this is the opening song from Murray Street and is a bit more laid back, but it has a fluidity to it that eases it along nicely.
6. Pavement - Harness Your Hopes: This is one of my favourite Pavement songs, a lot of Pavement fans aren't massively into the later stuff, and it is in stark contrast to their earlier stuff but I think it has some great merit still, this is a b-side that should have been on an album, its bouncy and joyful without being too in your face and has an absolute belter of a vocal melody in malkmus' typical meandering style.
7. Gene Chandler - Nothing Can't Stop Me: Bit of 60's soul, actually written and produced by Curtis Mayfield, those horns!
8. Minutemen - The Big Foist: Another really underrated and overlooked band, they can take some digesting because a lot of their albums have tonnes of songs, but they were extremely diverse and managed to float through a lot of styles within their one and two minute songs, this song owes as much to funk as it does to punk and pop.
9. Mos Def - Umi Says: Some more Hip-Hop, though this really does have a really soulful feel, Mos Def is a rapper in the loosest sense, he does rap, but he has a musical ear that I think often sets him apart, the bass and drums really seep into you on this.
10. Creedence Clearwater Revival - Sinister Purpose: I'd never really given CCR much of a chance, but got into them through Pavement who did a cover of this song, its roots rock at its finest, this has a gentle weirdness to it.
11. MF Doom - Gazzillion Ear: Some more Hip-Hop and another of my favourite MC's, Doom's vocal delivery could melt gold, another cracking beat aswell.
12. CAN - Vitamin C: I just wanted to get some CAN on here, hugely influential band, this is from the album Ege Bamyasi which I think is an album that showcases a little bit of everything of what CAN were about, this song in particular is a little bit more straightforward than what they usually did but its still a little weird. The drums are fantastic on this.
13. The Envelopes - Isabelle & Leonard: This song came on shuffle the other day and I hadn't heard it in a while and have been spending some time with the album recently, this has quite a laid back and nonchalant approach but with a killer hook, lo-fi pop rock band with Swedish and French members.
14. Earth, Wind & Fire - Fantasy: Another song that i've rediscovered in recent times, a really underrated band EW&F, their arrangements were brilliant, this song reminds me of being a kid. It just floats along with hook after hook.
15. Cymbals Eat Guitars - Wind Pheonix From their debut album from a couple of years back that I loved but seemed to slip under the radar a bit, love the way there isn't a real structure it just kind of flows along going here, there and everywhere. The lyrics are brilliant too.
16. The Supremes - When The Lovelight Starts Shining Through His Eyes This song is pure joy, I discovered it on a girl groups box set things, a bit of an obscure Supremes song, but its just so damn happy.
17. Wu-Tang Clan - Shame On A Nigga Last hip-hop, one of my all time favourite songs and the song that got me into Hip-hop, Ol Dirty Bastard, Method Man and Raekwon from Wu-Tang are on this backed by a killer RZA beat, brilliant.
18. The Chordettes - Mr. Sandman Come on.. I couldn't not put it on!
All turtled, Hope you enjoy!
07 sandman (mix for krburg)
Turtle name: krburg mix revised
Note: Made an earlier mix called krburg mix but decided to replace it. The next one to do this gets bad AIDS
1. John Barry Orchestra - On Her Majesty's Secret Service (my favorite Bond theme and sort of a stormer for opening credits to a day, a night out or night in)
2. The Cure - Fascination Street (Probably my favorite Cure tune cause the bass line is out of this world. Love the guitar bits in the beginning especially as well)
3. Animal Collective - For Reverend Green (One of my favorite Collective tunes. Love the guitar especially in this one. Lyrics are quite comical too which kind of makes the song have some sinisterish vibes)
4. Atlas Sound - Walkabout (featuring Noah Lennox) (Summer tune imo, for a nice sunny day thinking to yourself)
5. The Ramones - Chain Saw (Think the Ramones are my favorite punk band over anything you wanna call punk from the Sex Pistols to the Clash, I'm a Ramones man. Hard to pick a favorite of theirs cause all they're songs sound so similar but yet the minor little details for what they are brilliant. I don't buy into the whole Ramones are for 15yrs bs. Some brilliant 2-3 min pop tunes that happen to be so-called punk)
6. The Zombies - Maybe After He's Gone (Brilliant and underappreciated band. Backing vocals are a-la superb Pet Soundsish)
7. The Chemical Brothers - Another World (Off the newest allbum which is pretty good. Not the Hanna soundtrack mind you. To be fair it was this or Star Guitar. Dunno if your into the CB but imo best dance/techno whatever you want to call them act around, complete legends)
8. Sade - No Ordinary Love (Probably my favorite female vocalist of all time from her best album imo. Sexy as fuck)
9. The Jesus & Mary Chain - Something's Wrong (Kind of cliche to put them on here since you probably know them but this song imo is the best off of Psychocandy)
10. Queens of the Stone Age - Mexicola (Josh Homme is a stud)
11. MGMT - Siberian Breaks (5 songs into one and imo is a masterpiece. Reminds me if the Kinks, the Beatles and Pink Floyd got together and played some tunes all together at once. Ending of this is brilliant)
12. Panda Bear - Scheherezade (I love the ghost like vocals on this.)
08 rolli (mix for davycharles)
Turtle name: Mix For Davy Charles (A Rollinice Production)

12 shenandoah (mix for phieniac)
Turtle name: 14 Songs of Virtue and Wit (for Phieniac)
01 - The Pearlfishers - Across the Milky Way:
didn't know who Phieniac was so I checked out a couple of the songs he recommended and it was the most unoriginal, boring, cheap melodic crap available on the independent market today (no offence!!). This song belongs to the same league but I always found it charming and clever. Always thought it would have worked as a perfect soundtrack to Wall E.
02 - Magnolia Electric Co. - Map of the Falling Sky:
this is an awesome tune by the greatest songwriter of our generation, period.
03 - Willie Nelson - Devil In A Sleepin' Bag
from what Phieniac wrote it looks like he's subconsciously looking for good songs to dance a quadrille to, and if you're really looking for a quadrille, the search is over.
04 - Paul Simon - The Obvious Child
this song has a great tribal rhythm to it and I thought it fit quite nicely in this mix, it makes it a bit more dynamic and it's such a splendid, moving song.
05 - Violeta Parra - Que He Sacado Con Quererte
this has the same "hammering" rhythm of the previous song but, although it is very bare, it's a lot louder and violent. It's the only song of this compilation sung in non-english (it's in spanish...chilean, for who's picky about accents) and it's a political folk tune by a legendary artist. If you don't like it, either you have no soul or you're swedish.
06 - Little Feat - Trouble
I've always loved Little Feat's themes, cars, trucks, fat men in the bathtub etc, and for me this song captures George's "working class poetry" perfectly. Musically, if you like the Rolling Stones and the Band, Little Feat will suit you.
07 - Woven Hand - Story and Pictures
wasn't sure about this song but eventually decided to include it. It's very dark and the Biblical images used are almost scary...but it's a fantastic song, very direct and powerful.
08 - Jonathan Richman & the Modern Lovers - Lonely Financial Zone
Jonathan Richman is one of my musical heroes and I really wanted to include on of his songs without being obvious. This is a nice follow up to the previous song...it has the same airy feel and squared rhythm, but JoJo's voice is very natural, almost clumsy, and I thought it would have brought some life to the mix.
09 - Laura Nyro - When I Was a Freeport and You Were the Main Drag
just listen to this, this is a blast, this woman was possessed by the devil (in a good way!)
10 - Bowerbirds - House Of Diamonds
this is one of the few modern bands I actually like and this song is fantastic.
11 - Mark Kozelek - Find Me, Ruben Olivares
much like Jason Molina, Mark Kozelek is a songwriter who belongs to a league of his own. You can't compare him with any other songwriter today, he's just too pure. He's like our time's Nick Drake. Please Bill, listen to this.
12 - Judee Sill - The Phoenix
I wanted to include a good percentage of female artists, and Judee Sill has always been one of my favourite. She's one of the most clever artists ever. The Phoenix is a relatively simple song by her standards, but it's very direct and grabs you instantly.
13 - Joni Mitchell - Talk to Me
this is The Genius, so...
14 - Warren Zevon - Desperados Under the Eaves
I thought this made a perfect closer. It's humorous but in a very witty way, what you would expect from Zevon.
13 stocky (mix for autobahn66)
Turtle name: Mix for Autobahn
turtleed with ImageShack.us
1. M83 - Birds
Nice little chilled intro, to get you moist for what's to come.
2. Caribou - After Hours
Wierd kinda trippy electro with a bit of a 60's vibe
3.Ladytron - Black Plastic
Amazing band, light and magic is a brilliant album and this song is brilliant and has a great atmosphere about it.
3. My Vitriol - Always Your Way (acoustic)
Thought i'd take it down a notch (copyright: hi-fidelity mixtape rules) with an acoustic number, this one's a beauty and i'd forgotten how much I liked it till I was researching for choices.
4. Spectrals - 7th Date
Mmmmmm a dreamy Yorkshire take on the classic spector sound, even manages to make lyrics about throwing up in his mouth sound cute. This one is a Stocky vinyl rip from the original vinyl only single before it lost a bit of it's lo fi magic when it was rerecorded for the cd ep.
5. Raveonettes - Hallucinations
My fave Raveonettes song, the moment where the echoey drums kicks in with the needle like guitars is orgasmic.
6. Chameleons - Swamp Thing
Keeping it Manchester with this glorious slice of dreary 80's rock.
7. The Music - Karma
A track from one of there early EPs before they went shit, you can tell they were mucking around a bit with this one but it's still effortlessly amazing.
8. Happy Mondays - Olive Oil
Lovely little forgotten pop gem from the Mondays, they weren't all ecstasy and melons you know.
9. Northside - Shall We take a trip
Manchester in the area!
10. Spacemen 3 - Big City (remix)
Subtle remix of a classic later spacemen3 track, this one sticks in it's trancey groove for over ten minutes!
11. John Starlight - Shadow Breaker (boys noize edit1)
Was going to leave it ending on big city but couldn't resist sneaking in a fucking gigantic electro tune as it's reflective of what i'm listening to at the moment and no one can deny how big this tune is.
14 ton (mix for mahoney)
Turtle name: clogs, tulips and unequivocal grooves: mix for mahoney
Tracklist:
1. The Durutti Column - Sketch for Summer
2. Mark E. Smith & Ed Blaney - No Retreat
3. Bailter Space - Fascination
4. Relatively Clean Rivers - Journey Through the Valley of O
5. Derroll Adams - Oregon
6. Wizz Jones - One Grain of Sand
7. Spooky Tooth - Waitin' For the Wind
8. Karen Dalton - Something on your Mind
9. Wally Tax - Never Too Far
10. Arthur Alexander - If It's Really got to be This Way
11. James Booker - A Taste of Honey
12. The Outsiders - Do You Feel All Right
13. The Real People - At The End of the Day
14. Drop Nineteens - Winona
15. Latimore - Let's Straighten it Out
15. JP Supermix
1; Billy Nichols - Would You Believe?
Some British kid from the 60s who was hired to make a response to Pet Sounds. The album was shelved before it ever even got released so was a lost classic for many years. Billy eventually self released it 30 years later. Steve Marriott from Small Faces is on this track too. Good shit.
2; Buck 65 - Blood of a Young Wolf
I love Buck but rarely see him mentioned on this board. A hip hop artist who is sounds as much like Lee Hazlewood and Tom Waits as he does any hip hop artist.
3; Abyssinians - Satta Massagana
One of the best roots reggae songs of all time.
4; Dara Puspita - A Go Go
60s girl group from Indonesia. Great stuff and I'd imagine quite a heavy influence on bands like Vivian Girls n stuff.
5; Bill Callahan - Diamond Dancer
Another amazing artist who I feel is overlooked on these forums. I've heard this song described as classic 70s Bowie sung by Lou Reed and I can see where they're coming from on that.
6; All the Young - Arcane
HUGE TUNE
7; Arthur Russell - A Little Lost
One of the most interesting artists of all time who has posthumously finally started to get some of the recognition he deserved in life. A lot of his most successful stuff is more closely linked with the dance genre but I went for this one as it is fucking beautiful.
8; Pen Expers - Valentine Shirt
Swedish band who to me sound like a mix of Nick Cave and British Sea Power. Nothing original but good tune.
9; James Chance and the Contortions - Contort Yourself
I got quite heavily into the No Wave scene of late 70s New York a couple of years ago and this was by far one of the best songs from that era. Bringing together jazz, funk and punk to create something distinctly unique. You can see how the likes of The Rapture were influenced by this.
10; The Golden Dawn - My Time
60s American psychedlic rock not too dissimilar to 13th Floor Elevators and Love. Big fan of this tune, huge stuff.
11; Isan - Look and Yes
Time for a bit of electronica. This band always seemed to stay firmly under the radar but I've always thought this song was really fucking good.
12; Lee Moses - Bad Girl pt1
Only got into this guy fairly recently but this song properly blew me away. Amazing soulful vocals. Only got this in shit bitrate though but thought it was worth including regardless. Put it last in case anyone is too much of a sound nazi and refuses to listen. In that case FORGET THIS SONG EVER HAPPENED.
link has been turtled. enjoy guys and i look forward to hearing some feedback xxxx
16. Magneto (for bart)
I tried to get this to come up on I Tunes as an album but it's fuckt up a bit. You will need to manually insert the album cover which is a picture of my mate Fazza. Good lad.
What The World Wasn't Waiting For - Libertines Legacy Mixtape
So having started to put this together minus a few tracks I wanted to put in (Rudebox, Minder Theme Tune etc) it quickly became apparant most bands were from this era and it's probably the only stuff I have heard that some of the bookworms (Karl, JP, Kev etc) may not have heard. It appears Bart has heard of the mighty Towers so he might have heard a bit. I hope he hasn't and enjoys it. It's hardly groundbreaking but it is atleast fun
1. The Black Amnesias - Hope Of The States
Epic instrumental opener from their debut album which is the bollox. Makes me wanna smash stuff up.
2. Diets, Pills and Magazines - Humanzi
The Irish Libertines! They didn't really do much and their music is a bit shit, this tune is fucking banging though. Makes me wanna smash stuff up. Big tunes on my running playlists.
THIS IS THE SHIT SO GET USED TO IT.
3. Horrors - Silvery
The singer was a big dog on the libertines forum (where Pete used to post) who I had down as a prick as I let him in at the bar once and he didn't say thank you. Started cunting him off a lot on the forum after that Eventually gave the album a spin after rave reviews and thought it was shit. Eventually thawed and got into a few tunes and this is one. It's good.
4. On a Noose - Towers of TCOTU
Remember when I came to prominence on the forum? With my Towers sig and cunting people off left, right and centre. ^^^6 Month Ban^^^ NARK and Poindexter.
Good times.
The Towers wern't a joke though. Albums the fucking bollox and this is maybe the best tune on it.
I'M ON A NOOSE AND I NEVER EVEN TRIED.
Fucking powerful lyrics.
5. Don't Go Back To The One You Love - Yeti
I was talking to Mahoney about this tune/album the other night and he was adament it was shit which is strange because it's sort of up his street. This tune is big with an obvious nod to East Coast America type shit.
6. Revelations - Babyshambles feat MC Purple
Far better than it has any right to be. Easily Pete's best post Libs chorus.
7. The Winter Gardens - Special Needs
Undoubtedly the best band from that whole scene. All the demoes and singles are amazing, and the album is pretty good as well. It's just good clean fun. Something you can dance to
8. I Could Never Lie - The Rifles
Are the Rifles a post Libs band? Yes they are. They played Time For Heroes before they came on the other night so it's a fact. This is their best unknown-ish song. It's from The Great Escape EP.
9. What A Waster - Adam Green
Everyone's probably heard this.
10. Napoleon - Wolfman
No one has probably heard this. Dicks all over For Lovers and is his best song.
IT CAME OVER ME AS A GUNSHOT
GOT MY NAME FROM SOME TART HE KNOCKED OFF
PULLED THE TRIGGER, EASY WITH A SAWN OFF
I SOAKED UP THE BLOOD WITH A DISH CLOTH
11. Panic Attack - Paddingtons
Shit band. Decent song. Somehow this is the second mixtape they have appeared on.
12. Bad Weekend - Art Brut
Big tune. I think it's the single version or a demo or something so that should be interesting. Also the second mixtape they have appeared on.
THEIR TEXTING TOPSHOP, THEIR TEXTING TOPSHOP
13. A Master's In Drug Taking - Thee Unstrung
After the savaged album came out they quietly released an e.p which had three brilliant songs on it. This is one. It's about Dominic Masters.
I've been on the piss with the singer Ben a few times. Good lad.
14. Truth Begins - Dirty Pretty Things
The amount of shit the secong DPT album gets ANNOYS because this is on it and it's a lovely ode to friendship. I still enjoy walking around Holborn when the sun's out in summer and blasting this out.
15. This Is For The Poor - The Others
The Others love letter to the working classes. It got to 41 in the charts I think which was pretty fucking exciting at the time.
16. Khama Chameleon - Pete Doherty
A bit of fun to end on
I hope you enjoy it Bart and I'll give yours a spin tomorrow.
God Speed.
17 barny (for dan)
It's hard to surprise Mr British with pieces of his little world, so I've looked a little outwards... It follows the poppy vibe of Dan's one (I'll write a first review soon), just sorry for the lack of ladies, I'm more a manly man myself.
1. Smith Westerns - Weekend -> That riff really works as an into, doesn't it?
2. Cloud Nothings - Talk To Me -> One of his thousand of direct little catchy tunes, sounds like Lee Mavers tbh.
3. The Vines - Orange Amber -> I was meant to put Candy Daze but I didn't have it on the computer, so I stuck this one which works in the same vein. Both underrated pop gems.
4. Fleet Foxes - Mykonos -> Cos you need some foxes in your life and this is as best as it gets...
5. The Sunday Drivers -> Everything Reminds Me Of You -> Nuff' said.
6. Anna Calvi - Blackout -> Dunno if you know her, but I know you like your ladies lovely and fierce. She's both and more.
7. The Replacements - Unsatisfied -> You want more? You'll fuckin' have it!
8. Guided By Voices - Little Whirl -> It has something, don't know exactly what, but it's so addictive for me.
9. The Tallest Man On Earth - Burden Of Tomorrow -> It has become one of my favourite songs ever, I had to put it.
10. Mando Diao - If I Don't Leave Today -> Lovely poppy single by an underrated band.
11. Wilco - You & I -> You have a worrying miss of wilco on your lastfm, and though this is not typical Wilco, it's a perfect love song.
12. The Babies - Meet Me In The City -> Song based on the much-announced-never- date between you and Karl.
13. Wire - Mannequin -> Lalalalalalala oh oh
Head to your to find it
18 mahoney mix for JP
Most the artists you will be familiar with, I've just gone for things that after going through your lastfm it appears you've not heard that come from mostly good albums. so hopefully if you like the tracks you'll wanna try the albums out. That was my logic behind this. No real theme just random tunes so no pacific order for the tracks.
AN HOUR OF BROTHER LOVE
Acid Casuals - Bowl Me Over
Cian from SFA's dance side project. This song sounds nothing like the rest of Acid Casuals songs. It has Gruff on vocals and is one of the best SFA related songs ever, Horizen is also a fan.
BS2000 - The Scrappy
Another side project, this time from Ad-rock of the Beastie Boys. A fun bouncy number that I absolutely love. Shame about the daft outro.
Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band - Sun Zoom Spark
hopefully you've not heard this. It's from Clear Spot which is criminally overlooked because it's not as 'out there' as the rest of the Captain's material. Great song off imo a classic album.
Eels - Railway Man
As you've been getting into Eels I thought I'd put my favourite song from the Blinking Lights double album.
El Goodo - If I were A Song
A band I've seen support SFA a few times. The debut is pretty good, beach boys/J&MC type vibes
Ennio Morricone - The Ecstasy Of Gold
I've included this because 1. as a reminder that you've still not see The Good, The Bad & The Ugly & 2. It's one of the most remarkable pieces of music I've ever heard.
The Exploding Hearts - I'm A Pretender
I couldn't find any trace of you listening to these so hopefully it's new to you. Baz is a big fan, such a great, exciting guitar record. Buzzcocks meets the strokes.
Frank Black - Thalassocracy
Had never tried any of his solo stuff until recently. This was my favourite track from the Teenager Of The Year LP
Guided By Voices - fair touching
You are a much much bigger fan of GBV than I am but recently I got into Isolation Drills which I don't think you've heard. It's a much more polished & 'finished' LP than their more lo-fi early stuff which suits me better. Top album
Holly Golightly & The Greenhornes - There Is An End
Not sure if you've ever really bothered with Holly Golightly. She's got a treasure chest of great songs. You've probably heard this track as it's on the Broken Flowers soundtrack but either way, everybody should have some Holly Golightly in their life.
Johnny Osbourne - Truth & Rights
Recently got into the album of the same name. Brilliant soulful reggae
Kevin Burgess - Elias Dread
I had to remove 27 tracks to fit it on but fuck it. I noticed you never heard Kev's last album. I'm pretty sure you'd love it. This for me is breathtaking and I still can't believe he wrote this tune. I'm convinced it will turn up on the next Neil Young Archives.
Lee Hazlewood - Jose
From a pretty underrated Hazlewood LP called 'Lee Hazelwoodism, It's Cause And Cure'. One of my favourite songs of his. Very theatrical sounding.
Love - Singing Cowboy
This is from the Four Sail LP which I'm always banging on about on here. It's disregarded by almost everybody because it's basically Arthur Lee & a new band still under the Love tag & the trademark sound is exchanged for a more conventional guitar driven late 60's sound. Very underrated LP.
Smudge - Ugly, Just Like Me & Divian
I've included two tracks by Smudge. I've wanted to hear your thoughts on this band for a while. I made Kev download the record though he didn't think much of it. It's basically a more lo-fi sounding version of the Lemonheads. The singer co-wrote two tracks on 'Ray & co-wrote pretty much half of Come On Feel. I'm pretty confident you'll dig their Manilow LP
VideoGame Orchestra - Island In The Sun (Belmont's Revisal)
& to finish it off, a Nintendo cover of a Weezer track. I've no reason for including this other than it makes me smile.

5.Young The Giant - Garands
6.Memphis - I Am The Photographer
7.Film School - Nothing's Mine
8.Twin Sister - Lady Daydream
9.Architecture in Helsinki - Sleep Talkin'
10.The Mary Onettes - Puzzles
11.Midlake - Acts of Man
12.22-20s - Morning Train
Pretty chill for the most part. Good for a quiet neet in with a drink or spliff, or both. Hopefully there are some you haven't heard Rolli.
21 brad for fuse5k

2. Tegan & Sara - The Con
3. Gillian Welch - Revelator
4. Beth Orton - Concrete Sky
5. Bill Withers - Can We Pretend
6. Josh Rouse - Ears to the Ground
7. Old 97s - Nineteen
8. Eels - I'm Going to Stop Pretending I Didn't Break Your Heart
9. Ryan Adams - Bar Lights (Acoustic Demo)
10. Broken Family Band - John Belushi
11. Tom McRae - Bloodless
12. The Hold Steady - Killer Parties
WHOOPS TURTLED
Toro Y Moi - Intro Chi Chi
Really liked the latest album, this intro is a good way to start a record, a bit of MBV-guitars with some nice rhythms at the end.
Syket - Let It Heal
Have recommended these on here before, shoegazey vibe with madchester drums and horns.
Bill Laswell - Lost Roads
It's impressive how a song like this can get stretched out to seven and a half minutes without you losing interest.
Joe Gibbs - Africa Dub Chapter Three
Been listening to a lot of dub lately so i thought I'd throw some of that stuff in there.
The Jaynetts - Sally Go Round The Roses
Great girlpop stuff, powerful melody.
Suicide - Mr. Ray
Been listening to a bit of Suicide lately, like the beat on this one, sounds like something Tyler The Creator would use today.
Prince Far I - Low Gravity
Can imagine Primal Scream listening to this while doing Vanishing Point.
Link Wray - The Fuzz
Such a cool track as usual when it comes to Link Wray.
The Skatalites - Lucky Seven
Every time I listen to this one I end up trying to imitate his grunts for the rest of the day.
Sam & Dave - Hold On! I'm Comin'
Great song, got the same swagger and power like Fire with Etta James.
Albert King - Crosscut Saw
Love the lead guitar on this one, sexy as fuck.
George Mcrae - Rock Your Baby
Smooth discosoul, remember Bobby Gillespie raving about this one.
Dion - Born To Be With You
One of those songs that everyone who's heard it loves it. Fantastic. Spectors production is great, the drums are massive. Both Dion and Spector thought they had reached their peak years before which I think gives the song it's desperate yet still resigned feel.
The Delfonics - Didn't I Blow Your Mind
Recently rediscovered this song. The melody is perfect, such a beautiful song.

01. Mahoney (mix for ton)
Turtle name: comp for ton - glenn helders special nuggets
Right, Just spent a couple of hours messing about & chopping tracks.

A "hard" version is turtleed in turtle, but I also turtleed it at 8tracks so its streamable and if anyone else wants a quick peruse, although the stream order gets randomized at a certain amount of plays.

Turtle name: Ben's tunes
Cheers Ben, will download and have a listen soon.
Yours is being turtleed as I type, I compiled tunes I've lately enjoyed, all fairly recent, and thought you might dig...it's fairly electronic as I saw you went to see James Blake the other day so I'm hoping you might be open for that kind of stuff, as well with some post/kraut rock tunes and some guitar pop. Also, I remember you have a thing for female voices so I added my mates sisters band called 'felix', let me know what you think!
Here's the playlist:
1. Apparat - Walls
2. Darkstar - Aidys girl is a computer
3. Kling Klang - Heavydale
4. Mogwai Mexican Grandprix
5. Kling Klang Heavydale (reprise)
6. Antoni Maiovi - The Thorns of love
7. Adele - Rolling in the Deep (Jamie xx remix)
8. Mount Kimbie - Blind Night Errand
9. Minks - Funeral Song
10. oOoOO - No Summr4U
11. Felix - You Are the One I pick
12. Hot Club de Paris - They Shoot Horses, Don't they?
13. Errrors - Dance Music
14. Magenta Skycode - Montag
15. Gill Scott-Heron & Jamie XX - Running
06. Krburg (mix for sandman)
Turtle name: Srsly BANGIN' D4ncE 4Loor FillaZ! (for Sandman)
Here you go Sandman, your mix:

Turtle name: krburg mix revised
Note: Made an earlier mix called krburg mix but decided to replace it. The next one to do this gets bad AIDS
Alright the new mix I wanted just one song from an artist and seeing that you have already listend to some soul tunes already I changed it up.

12 shenandoah (mix for phieniac)
Turtle name: 14 Songs of Virtue and Wit (for Phieniac)
ok, this is my mixtape for Phieniac and a brief track by track/introduction to the songs:
From Stockport With Love
turtleed with ImageShack.us

JP SUPERMIX1; Billy Nichols - Would You Believe?
MAGNETO'S MIXTAPE
THE TIME HAS COME
It's hard to surprise Mr British with pieces of his little world, so I've looked a little outwards...
Head to your to find it
18 mahoney mix for JP
fuck, I've just wasted the whole night making this This should not of taken hours to do.

12.22-20s - Morning Train
Pretty chill for the most part. Good for a quiet neet in with a drink or spliff, or both. Hopefully there are some you haven't heard Rolli.

1. Working for a Nuclear Free City - The Quiet Place
2. Tegan & Sara - The Con
3. Gillian Welch - Revelator
4. Beth Orton - Concrete Sky
5. Bill Withers - Can We Pretend
6. Josh Rouse - Ears to the Ground
7. Old 97s - Nineteen
8. Eels - I'm Going to Stop Pretending I Didn't Break Your Heart
9. Ryan Adams - Bar Lights (Acoustic Demo)
10. Broken Family Band - John Belushi
11. Tom McRae - Bloodless
12. The Hold Steady - Killer Parties
WHOOPS TURTLED
Toro Y Moi - Intro Chi Chi
Really liked the latest album, this intro is a good way to start a record, a bit of MBV-guitars with some nice rhythms at the end.
Syket - Let It Heal
Have recommended these on here before, shoegazey vibe with madchester drums and horns.
Bill Laswell - Lost Roads
It's impressive how a song like this can get stretched out to seven and a half minutes without you losing interest.
Joe Gibbs - Africa Dub Chapter Three
Been listening to a lot of dub lately so i thought I'd throw some of that stuff in there.
The Jaynetts - Sally Go Round The Roses
Great girlpop stuff, powerful melody.
Suicide - Mr. Ray
Been listening to a bit of Suicide lately, like the beat on this one, sounds like something Tyler The Creator would use today.
Prince Far I - Low Gravity
Can imagine Primal Scream listening to this while doing Vanishing Point.
Link Wray - The Fuzz
Such a cool track as usual when it comes to Link Wray.
The Skatalites - Lucky Seven
Every time I listen to this one I end up trying to imitate his grunts for the rest of the day.
Sam & Dave - Hold On! I'm Comin'
Great song, got the same swagger and power like Fire with Etta James.
Albert King - Crosscut Saw
Love the lead guitar on this one, sexy as fuck.
George Mcrae - Rock Your Baby
Smooth discosoul, remember Bobby Gillespie raving about this one.
Dion - Born To Be With You
One of those songs that everyone who's heard it loves it. Fantastic. Spectors production is great, the drums are massive. Both Dion and Spector thought they had reached their peak years before which I think gives the song it's desperate yet still resigned feel.
The Delfonics - Didn't I Blow Your Mind
Recently rediscovered this song. The melody is perfect, such a beautiful song.
