I know it won't count in the end of the year list.. but the Best Coast - iTunes sessions are fucking unreal. I prefer this version of songs more than the album.. Lovely stuff, I need a 2nd album soon.

Finally got around to downloading this & have had a few listens & it's really good. Copper Top & Glasgow Jubilee are superb. I think it's gone under the radar everywhere tbh, it only has 30'odd ratings on RYM.

Really lovely record tbh. Certainly one of my favourites of the year. Understated and seems to fly by a little too quickly

True story - the Copper Top is a run-down restaurant on the Glasgow Road in Camelon, about 5 minutes from where I used to work. Both Bill and Aidan are from that neck of the woods and no doubt used to wank in the toilets.

It's a good album, but my respect for Aidan Moffat has nosedived since he had the nerve to turn down my request for an interview. And by "turn down" I mean "blank completely" and by "request" I mean "twitter message".

The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart record has grown on me lately, too. I liked the first, was never a HUUUUGE fan, but I really liked the Higher Than The Stars EP, and I reckon this second album is pretty good indeedy too

Is it worth making a top by the end of the year with 5 lists? The 70s thread got lost in the middle of nowhere...

end of year list will get more involvement than the 70's thread.

Agreed the first half of the album is unstoppable but the 2nd half gets pretty dull (yes folks I'm agreeing against my almighty pains).. I think the last few songs sound too samey or something.

Pains is still a crushing disappointment for me. I'd give a 7 so I do like it but their new wimpy synth/keys heavy sound really makes them sound soft & has removed the punch they originally had.

What's left to come out in 2011 still?
Looking forward to Mark Sultan's (King Khan of The Shrines & BBQ show) two records he's releasing. The CD version which is one disc with half of each album has leaked but I want the proper records.
Also The Fall, Black Keys, Kate Bush & The Roots. The Big Pink have a new one, first album showed promise so I'll give that a go, could go either way. Also Ringo Deathstarr have an EP out soon.
Anything else worth getting excited about?

Hush Puppy Cunts?

I was thinking maybe releasing in January 1st. Remember how everybody went made about that Surfer Blood band just because their album was the first album out that year despite them not being very good. I reckon that is the way forward.

Also, thinking of changing it to The Slush Puppie Cunts

I feel being sued by Slush Puppie will gain us much needed attention. I've already prepared AWESOME artwork

Hey Kev, I'm very excited about attending the first From Archibald Tennessee gig. Did you know Hot Rats have a second album coming out? Seems Gary's solo record has been put back to next year.
