Haven't listened to this in a while but just stuck it on again and remembered how much I love it. It's beautiful and aching and the lyrics are so poignant.
Without a doubt one of my favourite albums ever.

I've begun to love it over the last year or so. When I was about 15 and first getting into Dylan I could never get past "Early one morning the sun was shining, ah was layin' in beeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhd", but Tangled Up in Blue really is one of the greatest tunes of all time. It's not my favourite Dylan album, in fact it probably wouldn't even make my top 3, but it's great.

"buckets of rain buckets of tears got all them buckets coming out of my ears" he made so many great records of course. but over the years this has probably gone up to 2nd. highway 61 revisited will always be the 1 though.

I've listened to Dylan's entire catalogue lately and the man made so many great songs. Even his disguised gospel period has some fantastic tunes ;D His last albums are dull though

Blood On Tracks is my number one Dylan album tbf, although I don't listen to it too often. Its a painful one to get through at times have to be in the right mood for it.

If You See Her, Say Hello... holy fuck. I remember when I was first getting into Dylan how this was the song that just completely knocked me out. An absolute masterpiece. Idiot Wind is probably my favourite Dylan, if I were made to choose. Just staggering genius - how his sneering and hatred can escalate verse after verse, with such vivid imagery ('the priest wore black on the 7th day' always got me) then the tender punchline of "we're just idiots babe, it's a wonder we can even feed ourselves". I'm drunk and I'm going to give it a spin right now!

It's alright, it's just that, let's say since after Time Out of Mind, I don't really like his voice anymore. He sounds old (well he is old so that's quite logical) but also not that vivid to me anymore. It doesn't stand out, it's just, uh, bland? 84-88 probably is the weakest part of career though imo. But fuck, what a brilliant songwriter. One of the best ever, that's for sure. Desire was also one of your favourite albums, right Tom? Didn't listen to that until maybe 2 months ago for some reason and really liked it. It's hard to have a favourite Dylan song but lately I've been thinking that 'Don't Think Twice, It's All Right' might be one of the best songs ever made.

Not really much to add, but I agree, fantastic album. Probably the one I tend to listen to the most these days.
