I've heard it again for second time and the most noteworthy thing is that I didn't remember there was a song going on for 6 minutes.

I will listen to it again soon though I am currently still in mourning over the loss of one of my favourite bands.

I think great escape is better than the debut. So many many emotional man tunes I could cry. Will be revisiting freedom run soon.. can't wait

Why is Toerag called like that? What does it mean? I'm gonna pay some visual artist to make a film for it and get the lyrics tattoed.

A Toerag is like a street level villain.
The lyrics are about the boring routine of commuting in and out of an office job.
So I suppose he's saying he should be doing something a bit more exciting than this as he's a bit dodgy at heart.

Been listening to it this week, starting to hear the quality of the songwriting come through but it's still practically impossible to like this with the glossy production, especially what they've done with the vocals. I could imagine a number of the tunes if recorded in the same vain as on The Great Escape being pretty good Rifles songs but on the flipside there is also some truly horrific songs on here too. Love Is a Key really makes me cringe. I actually like Long Walk Back, could of been a Rifles classic not for the overproduction. I also like Everline, cheesey but it's a nice catchy tune that's not been tarnished with the overproduction too much. Just so fucking disappointed still Irritates me so much to see it getting good reviews everywhere, also the fact they are doing bigger tours before the band will actually believe that they've made the right move. Hopefully reactions to the new songs at their gigs will be shit, I won't be there to find out though. Might turn up if they do their boogaloo christmas gigs, usually a good night out.

i listened to it again the other day and it seemed a little bit better than i remembered but still like you say the production is so horrible. a ticket for the norwich gig has finally come on ebay so im hoping to nab that so i can still go see them as it will be a huge night even if the set is a bit newsong heavy and im on my own

Thing is you can understand most of where the went wrong but those lyrics are just fucking horrible.
How did that happen? They're just bad and then they will try a clever turn of phrase or something and then end up even worse. The only thing I can think of is the old drummer or bassist were writing them but then why would you sack them?
The new two members look like a pair of pricks as well.
And Joel plays bass live. What's all that about?

It's over sam. Fucking finished. haha i know, seriously all down to all the young. properly rediscovered my manly vibes. when we next meet bruv, its gonna be bigger than a diy superstore! the last few times ive been a bit reserved trying to be indie, its all out the window now, elbows out, fred perry on. theres only so many sonic youth songs that sound half good then end with 4 minutes of feedback you can hear before you say to yourself, hey, I want the fucking hits from the jukebox. RING A DING DING DING I'M GOING DOWN
