bit surprised. milner transfer must be virtually a done deal then. bought too many english players i thought. not enough flair in that team.

Seems to have been on the verge of going for the better part of a year and I know a couple of Villa fans who put forward a very good case for not being happy with him which you don't often hear in the one-note media, but this still feels like a shock. Even if Milner goes they still have a good first XI, but hardly any sort of squad beyond that - be interesting to see who they replace him with, if they get it wrong and lose a couple of first teamers they could be a bottom half team in the blink of an eye. Bet Mark Hughes wishes he waited a few weeks before taking the Fulham job now doesn't he, still serves him right for being a CUNT.

Another reminder for the all the bluekipper mongs who slate kenwright for not attracting 'investment'.
West ham, leeds, liverpool, villa, newcasrle, portsmouth etc etc etc and still they go on and on and on about kenwright's lack of ambition.

It actually wouldn't surprise me if he was our new manager if things go south with Hughton, he's very well known and a bit of a media darling which would be attractive to Ashley who always seems to try to appeal to the kind of demographic who love broadly popular figures like O'Neil

I guarantee you he'll be at a bigger club than that. BUT WHO?

Sounded like a bit of a dig at Newcastle but I didn't mean it like that. Nothing against them as a club at all, I just reckon MON is destined for more. Even if most people on this forum appear to disagree.

It's ok andy I know you're still harbouring resentment after some of my more cutting Cold Roses digs. He might get a big Premiership job, but I don't think he'd suit one, he spent big at Villa but never used half of the players he dolled out on and then demanded more money. I reckon he can get top 7 with any team, but taking the next step doesn't seem to be in him

Who could? I defy anyone to do much better tbf. I think he's getting a bad rap here. He may have spent a bit of money but it was hardly an outlandish amount. Infact it equated to taking them from obscurity to finishing above Liverpool and even riding in 4th position for a while, which if anything is punching above their weight, even having spent 100 odd million over 4 years. He's not a miracle worker. This is Aston Villa we're talking about, he was never going to be able to attract the players he really wants so there was going to be a few dud buys along the way. I really don't think anyone else could do any better with a team of Aston Villa's stature in England. You can only push for 4th/5th for so long until your thin squad shows weaknesses. What were people really expecting from him? It seems grossly unfair to me that people are saying he wasn't good enough. I see absolutely no good reason to back this up.
