any idea why? I know there was rumours that he'd fallen out with Lerner about not getting funds at the start of the summer but is there more? Is he being forced to sell Milner?

That's what I thought tbh. Chairmen had spent a fortune and if he wants to recoup a bit by selling Frankenstien then who is MON to question him. Back to the BEEB for old prick face.

WHAT? £120 million in how many seasons? O'neill turned a very very average Aston Villa side into a top 6 club who were very strong. Brought some great players to the club and made a very good team. The guy is a genius

The guy is a genius Yeh a genius. £120m over 4 seasons is £30m per season Blain. Sorry Blain, but would a genius be responsible for these? Stiliyan Petrov (Celtic, £6.5m) Marlon Harewood (West Ham, £3.5m) Nigel Reo-Coker (West Ham £8.5m) Wayne Routledge (Tottenham, £1.5m) Zat Knight (Fulham, £3.5m) Curtis Davies (WBA, £10m) Steve Sidwell (Chelsea £5.5m) Nicky Shorey (Reading, £4m) Luke Young (Middlesbrough, £5m) Carlos Cuellar (Rangers £7.8m) Emile Heskey (Wigan £3.5m) Stewart Downing (Middlesbrough £10m) James Collins (West Ham United, £5m) None of those players would get into the first XI of Liverpool, Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea, Tottenham, Everton or Man City. I know all managers make mistakes and sign bad players, but he did it a ridiculous amount of times in a short space of time. Plus other top managers manage to recuop a large proportion of what they spend, he got nowhere near.

Stiliyan Petrov (Celtic, £6.5m) James Collins (West Ham United, £5m) I'd argue these two were very good buys. But on the whole I'd have to throw my hat into the O'Neil = overrated ring as well, had a foreign coach with a big reputation done the exact job that he's done, there's no way he'd get the time of day that O'Neil does.

Collins still hasn't proven himself yet imo and Petrov hasn't scored anywhere near enough goals.

Is Petrov supposed to score goals? He's played inside his own half for most of his time at Villa

He seemed to score a lot more at Celtic, although maybe that's just how shit the SPL is.
I dunno, maybe it's just me but i've never rated him.

Petrov's a good player, but even in scotlad he wasn't a free scoring midfielder. that's not his game
