TDOYAM gets even better with each listen. I immediately preferred it over TIOBI. I can't wait to hear it live.

it´s grown a lot on me, especially listening through headphones, easily prefer it over TIOBI (Which I never liked).
Bring The Light better than TDOYAM ?? lol
there´s only one BDI song better than this: FLW (and maybe TRC)

Would you guys stop using acronyms? Please? Makes your posts read like an american psychiatrist's diagnosis.
By the way, I have very mixed feelings about this. There's the nicer, positive side of me that thinks it's a good song, it's fun and lighthearted with the fanfare and everything. It's good.
On the other hand, there's the mean, cynical -- possibly socially frustrated -- side of me that keeps telling me that the man is 44 and still he doesn't have a style, a sound of his own. He's just pantomiming Ray Davies' style so hard, I can't connect the song to his persona. Makes the song very cold, in my opinion.
He had a style once: it was called Bonehead's Bank Holiday. It was naive and simpleminded, maybe, but it was "him". This is just somebody else's work re-interpreted by a professional songwriter in auto-pilot mode.
So yeah, might sound good, but on closer inspection...it doesn't!
And that fucking fanfare really sounds like some clumsy attempt at giving the song a "Bob Dylan -- Rainy Day Women" edge, very awkward.

Bollocks tbh. How many times has he tried to be Ray Davies? Three in fifteen years? Is every song with brass and fanfare a derivation of a third class Dylan song? Is the patented shine-sound not a voice of his own (with Liam's permission)?
While the song won't get a prize for innovation and genius, it is very well constructed and flows gently without trying hard for a second. The other songs we know of the album don't really sound like it and he has already confirmed a more adventurous record for the next year. Calm down.
You can genuinely enjoy the tune, I let you.

To me, it has little to no personality, that's the point, and does for me what Mucky Fingers did: well constructed, flows gently, but it has no charisma, no backbone. And yes, no one expects him to re-invent the wheel, but it's weird to see him stuck in a perpetual limbo and people going " Yeah, it's not that bad -- after 4.892 listens, it's really growing on me!!". Athough I find Beady Eye revolting I think most of their material (at least, the songs I could finish) has more personality than The Death of You and Me. Might be less sophisticate, grosser, but they sound more "into it", so to speak. And of course, my talk is all based on one song, I obviously hope the album has a different vibe and I'll be elastic enough to adjust my opinion.

they sound more "into it", so to speak. This, really. Beady Eye are for more passionate about making music, I reckon. Saying that, Noel's single has grew on me after a few more listens and the chorus is pretty infectious. I think Noel's album will be great, no doubt. Looking forward to hearing what he's done with Record Machine & Stop The Clocks. I'm also looking forward to taking the best from Beady Eye & NGHFB and mashing them together as the Oasis album that could've followed DOYS. Without even hearing Noel's, it might go like this... Four Letter Word Bring The Light Millionaire The Death of You & Me The Roller Wigwam Everybody's On The Run Standing On The Edge of The Noise The Beat Goes On Stop The Clocks Or something

Take the bdi songs off that and it'd be decent

Well, Noel did have a sound of his own; a massive wall of guitars with Liam sneering on top of it. Without Liam, most of those songs wouldn't have worked. It's obvious that his album would be shit if he tried to write Definitely Maybe 2 with himself singing Bring It On Down 2, he has to invent a "new" sound for himself.
I really like the single, I love it's light and breezy tone with a Kinksesque feel. Can't get the chorus out of my head and that's what matters to me.

Take the bdi songs off that and it'd be decent If you noticed I said; "I'm also looking forward to taking the best from Beady Eye & NGHFB and mashing them together as the Oasis album that could've followed DOYS"Without the Beady Eye songs it wouldn't be an album, really. Pay attention. And even if you don't like Different Gear, Still Speeding as a collection of songs, Four Letter Word & Millionaire are blinding songs. Personally, I'm a big fan of the Beady Eye record minus Wind Up Dream, that's an abortion of a tune.

choon tbh. not a classic. but a choon never the less. like the chilled out ambience. and he even starts off with high tide. think he's gonna start singing wild wood for a split second. like the girl in the blue dress on the vid to.

the thing that lets this song down most is the vocal. so fucking dreary. his voice ain't been as good for about 5 yrs now. remember when he did the unplugged gigs with gem and his voice fucking spoiled it a bit tbh.
