Did you know that Johnny Echols (lead guitarist and co-founder of Love) had sort of a blog where he used to post stories of the good ol'days with Arthur Lee and the band? I discovered it today!! www.thefreedomman.com/love/johnnymain.htmIt is awesome to get a view on Love from his angle. We've never been that exposed to their daily stuff and inner stories (not as much as we've been for The Beatles or The Stones at least). It's great to see they were, after all, a regular band of performing musicians rather than a tormented and obscure myth. He tells of his meeting with a young Hendrix, their plane flight with Elvis, how Love became Love etc etc. Excellent material..Johnny is a funny lad and very articulated aswell! Read it!!

Thanks I'll look into it.
Have you seen the Love Story documentary from a couple of years back? Pretty good viewing.

Have you seen the Love Story documentary from a couple of years back? Pretty good viewing. Not yet! Couldn't find a torrent, let alone a real copy on the italian market. Do you have an .avi file or some link you can point me to Karl?! I'd really like to see it. By the way, from what I'm reading, the former rhythm guitarist of the first incarnation of Love was Bobby Beausoleil, who -- just a couple of years after being replaced with Bryan MacLean -- became a member of the Manson Family and took part in all that shit we all know. Apparently Johnny still feels responsible because by firing Beausoleil they pratically left him in the hands of Charles Manson. Very dramatic stuff.

Great stuff, will definitely be reading more into this. Echols is one of the most underrarted guitarists of all time.

Do it Rod, there's a lot of curious stuff we couldn't know about like "how did Hendrix get his first Wah-Wah pedal" and "where does the name Love come from" etc etc
I think I'm going to get that book on Arthur Lee as these stories have brought back all my enthusiasm for Love.
