Surely one of the best debut records ever? Only heard it a couple times so far, yet it's already easily one of my favourites from the 80's. Great tune after great tune, and some of the most laid-back, disinterested vocals going. Gordon Gano is a great frontman, with a sizeable dollop of the Lou Reeds to his delivery. Great stuff Obvious tune to pick for a video, but well, its brilliant innit

Its utterly brilliant, one of my favourite albums, love the almost childlike naivety to the songs, especially in the lyrics and vocal delivery as you say.
You should check out the second album too 'Hallowed Ground', not quite as good as the debut but a good album nonetheless

They seem very likeable for me and an omission I will have the pleasure to correct as soon as I can.

Had a listen on the back of THIS VERY TOPIC Dan.
Really enjoyed it if I'm honest, it was a lot more laid back than I was expecting.
