Does everyone wanna talk about music? Wicked. I assume everyone is down with this album. Do you kids dig it? I listened to it the other day for the first time. I've been aware of it since it was released but never got round to it. I even remember NME putting Michael Head on the cover and proclaiming him the best songwriter in the world so it's been built up as some mystical classic Britpop album in my head for quite some time. Well, it's certaintly Britpop, in it? It's just a good Britpop album that's very good in place and dire in others. If Michael Head was the best songwriter in the world where was Danny 'Mac Attack' McNamara because atleast two tunes sound like proper Embrace. It's alright but I wanted more. Does anyone love it? On the subject of Britpop I put Cast's first album on after and turned it off during the first song

I do like the record, theres some cracking tunes on there (comedy, natalies party, streets of kenny, Daniella) but the whole britpop sound doesn't really suit Shack. You should check out Waterpistol & Heres Tom With The Weather. They are not as instant as Fable & require more time to unfold but are without a doubt much better records than Fable.
Cast records are shit tbh. Even back in the day I never really liked any of their LP's all the way through. Cracking singles band with some good album tracks & b-sides spread out but even their debut I don't think is anything more than decent.

aye, it's my least favourite Shack record but still a solid one, very solid on the right day. That instantly catchy britpop sound didn't age well and I too think it absolutely doesn't suit them and doesn't give the record the same depth all their other albums have.
On the other hand, the material on pretty much all their other records is world class.

Bit of a weird one, being released in 99 (not? right?). Britpop was dead yet i dont think theres a better example of what it sounds like. Also did the Strands albums 2 years before that i think , makes it even weirder. Have played it to death as i did with all their albums. Still love this one as much as the rest, for me theres not a bad song on there. one of the few bands that can do no wrong for me. Lovely stuff. The only thing i have problems with is the last song on Here's Tom. literally baby shit.

No classics like Tie Me Down, Neighbours or Meant to Be but a top album nonetheless
