Obviously most right thinking people on here acknowledge how great the cribs are. but im just listening to their first self-titled album, and im struck by how hugely good it is and how little attention in comparison to their other albums it gets.
quality record! anyone else like it?

It's brilliant. Probably my second fave behind The New Fellas. Nicky Wire called it Sex Pistols playing early Beatles tunes (or something) which sounded quite apt. If only Mahutiheuihwihweuihweuihweuhui was here to melt on about their shit last album

To me it sounds like a band trying to sound like early Strokes but missing the point. Still a good album though.

I've grown to like it more & more with time. Did throw me out with it's rough production when I first heard it but as I got more and more into the Cribs I liked it more & more. Thank you Sam for dragging me down to the other stage one morning at Glastonbury 4/5 years ago whenever it was

It's an amazing album, there best by a mile I reckon. I love that rough production, it gives it such a warm charm.
The Lights Went Out Direction What About Me
Such incredible songs that conjure up wonderfull images of sweaty indie clubs and fun times of a more innocent age. Not that I was even into them when this album was out, but you know what I mean. Imagery innit.

The Arigato Cockers EP is excellent if you haven't heard it (you probably have).
It came out between 2nd and 3rd albums and still has a bit of lo fi about with a few of the Man's Needs ideas. There's a spoken word track!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(It's not as good as Be Safe though)

I used to hate The Cribs until I went to see them at the Liquid Room back in '05. Still easily one of the best gigs I've ever been to, and probably the best gig they've ever done, according to the men themselves.
