Enjoyed reading that, although its funny the way he's changed his tune about going to "listening partys" and meeting record executives etc, when he used to pride himself on not giving a fuck about shaking hands with fat record executives or playing the game like that. Still totally blaming Liam for everything as well.

FFS I really can't understand why so many people don't get Giants. For me it's easily the best record they made after the 90's LP's.

the hey hey my my cover is horrible. I know music is subjective and all that but this is so blatantly obvious that someone should not get paid to express their opinions if they cant grasp that

The last paragraph is horrific.
I'd give the whole thing a miss.

The willful ignorance needed to make that statement has made me genuinely angry.

The last paragraph is horrific. I'd give the whole thing a miss. Horrific is a fine adjective. Breath taking, just breath taking.

Tbf, if we're going to judge all rock critics of a country based on one person....Steve Sutherland.

Fuck off srk, I've read enough 9000-word long, ponderous, dull American magazine articles to realise Chuck Klosterman (I can't even type that without laughing ) is fairly typical of music mag hacks on the other side of the pond. He makes so many false, often utterly bizarre assumptions that the whole article reads like a bad parody. On another note, I think it's become clear the market position Noel & his label want him to take - "respected singer-songwriter". Leave Liam to the beery, boisterous UK crowds in sweaty halls. Noel thinks he's the Mancunian Kriss Krisstofferson. Playing mid-western arenas for the next 30 years.

But the 71-minute Be Here Now failed, even though it supposedly sold 8 million copies in six months
How can it supposedly sell an amount of records?

Seriously, I can see it now.
A grey-haired, bearded Noel, sitting on a bar stool with an acoustic guitar. He looks out at the all-seated crowd in the Richmond Coliseum. "This ones called Up in the Sky" he says, as a 50-year-old Evan whoops from row XXX. "There's actually a funny story about when Oasis recorded this, all those years ago. You'll never believe it, but, Liam, he turned up drunk! Glad those days are over."

One would assume he's calling 'bullshit' on that number. 8 million in six months seems high to me, too. I didn't even think be here now had sold 8 million, period.
