Neil Young attributed Bert Jansch's Needle of Death as the source for Ambulance Blues and Needle and the Damage Done.. A big influence on him, also on Donovan, Johnny Marr and Bernard Butler, for example.

Bit of a surprise, he was out touring with Dylan earlier in the year. Twas Neil, actually. I thought about going to see that show in Toronto, but the price and day didn't work out for me. Guess I should have gone. RIP.

Sad news, saw him a couple of years ago and he was absolutely brilliant. I couldn't sit and listen to his music all night but I've got a lot of respect for him as a guitarist. Came across as a solid unassuming guy too, RIP.

Yeah, glad I got the chance to see him when I did. He was a helluva guitar player.
And another shining example that folk music can be just as good as anything else when done well.

Seen him live twice, unbelievable musician.
Even Noel's influenced him (or at least he name-dropped him in an interview once).
