I'd still say the La's debut was better than anything Shack have made but Shack have made two classic records for my money & have some other great songs spread over their other albums + the Strands LP so I'd agree they are a better band.

And the Pale Fountains. 50% cheese, 50% incredible pop songs . Mick never made a Kitchen Tape though...

Where's best to go with Shack after HMS Fable? Something with less shine and more soul please HMS fable is utterly ruined by the overproduction. The Magical World of the Strands (not shack but by mick head or micheal head depending which version you get) is the complete opposite of it Waterpistol ...heres tom with the weather are well worth it too. HMS fable is not a good starting point at all really.

Is that the only one you heard yet? (Just checkin cos there's only two more albums after HMS fable) I love them all so I might be a tad bit biased. haha. So check them all oot, wonderful band. Now im thinking about it: it's striking how different the albums all are though tbh. -Waterpistol is essentially a more genuine version of HMS Fable. Has a lot more depth to it. -Here's Tom is more acoustical. A bit jazzy (in a good way) as well and most obviously West Coast/Arthur Lee Influenced. If you like Forever Changes you'll like this. -Corner of Miles & Gil, sort of continues where ''Here's Tom'' left of but far more rocky and wild. Thick arrangements and more electric guitar -Zilch, typical tinny 80's production but the first half is lovely stuff.

Watch this short, sweet, but bleak documentary. Rubbersoulman gets owned in the first 7 seconds.

I'd say Waterpistol is the best starting point. Why? Can't really say but it does have the most 'catchy' (awful word) songs on it. In a good way that is. Top album. So is Here's Tom With the Weather but it took me a little longer with that one.
