Recently 'acquired' both their discographies and I'm overwhelmed, not sure where to start so any pointers would be great.
On a more personal note, what does everyone rate and enjoy most about these 2?

As for Leonard Cohen, 'Songs of Leonard Cohen' and 'Songs of Love and Hate' would be ideal starting points imo. Both great, great albums, especially the first which is 10/10 for me.

What Jorn said for Leonard Cohen. I also really love Songs From a Room but I'd say his debut is the best starting point.
As for Tom Waits his new record would make a perfect starting point as it has a little bit of all his styles. Heartbreaking ballads, fucked up blues, theres a little bit of everything on there. Otherwise the two albums considered best by most are Swordfishtrombones & Rain Dogs, both fantastic.

Agree with Karl on Cohen. Two really accessible records with some big songs
I think a good introduction to Tom Waits is to start at the beginning. Closing Time and The Heart of Saturday Night may not be his best records but are more easy listening blues. New one is top and worth a listen. Think Blue Valentine was the first I ever heard. Rain Dogs is tremendous
