Thought Girls Aloud had a good run of singles. Whenever they did upbeat numbers like Sound Of The Underground, Something Kind Of Ohhh & Promise they were great. Never dug the ballads though, tended to always be dull & lifeless.

There's still good pop songs but like Sam says, it just all sounds the same. Melodies all sound the same, lifeless lyrics.
It's the same with almost any band that breaks through now as well, the most of it sound like you have heard it all before.
All of this shouldn't even matter, as innovation, experiment etc. aren't necessarily good things but most of it just sounds so interchangeable. It could've been done by tons of other people and you wouldn't notice any difference.

Also liked the singles from gwen stefani's first solo record. Didn't think much of the actual album but the singles all hit the spot for me, also she taught me how to spell bananas.
