The greatest band on the history of earth, more creative and more better songs than the Beatles ;D Anyway, last night they played their first gig in about two years at the Gary Speed memorial gig Can't find any footage of pictures yet but they played six songs Northern Lites, Rings Around The World, God! Show Me Magic, Golden Retriever, Hello Sunshine, Fire In My HeartApparently there was barely even an applause inbetween songs from the crowd I REALLY HOPE EDDIE MURPHY REPLIES TELLING US THAT HE SAW THEM SUPPORT THE MANICS YEARS AGO AND THEY WERE SHIT Seriously. guys, name a band you think are great and i will say super furry animals and own you. SUPER FURRY ANIMALS OWNED!

I have only rated two of their albums on RYM, but I don't think I'll rate the rest in a while

fucking love a bit of SFA!! In my humble opinion they are by far the most under rated band for the UK in the past 2 decades.

Any band that writes a song about the fact that the chin seemingly has no actual function on the body, deserves to be able to live outside of any government imposed laws.

Saw them at O2 Wireless when they used to have it at Harewood House in Leeds. They were in a small tent and absolutely blew the roof off, as well as completely upstaging The Who, who headlined and were a bit shit. Not as good as the Manics though.

Interview with Dafydd who has a new band he plays drums for called The Earth. Can't see SFA coming back anytime soon from what's been said here "Has the next Super Furry Animals album been discussed at all? No, God’s honest truth. We’ve been talking about box sets and what have you, but that’s a work in progress so I’m not supposed to say anything about it. But no, there’s nothing concrete; we decided to take time off to ‘hibernate’, as we like to say, but for how long depends on when we starting waking up from our long, slumbering sleep. It could be next year, the year after, in five years; who knows? I wouldn’t like to say. Could you ever see yourselves doing one of those shows where you play an album in its entirety? Yeah, why not, but it hasn’t been mentioned so that’s just as hard to answer as when will we do a show again. I really, really don’t know. It was Gruff that wanted to take time off more than anyone so I suppose you’d have to ask him. We were in the machine for fifteen years, touring, writing and recording, so when it stopped we were all pretty fucked up, found ourselves in debt and having to sack a manager for being a cunt. It was a pretty shitty time so we needed a lot of time to recover and have the will to do it again, really.

Well I guess that shits on the theory we were discussing on Saturday, namely that they all hate each other and they'd split up. I'd been, er, reliably informed that by a guy who used to do their live sound. Still can't see them doing another LP any time soon though

Maybe they don't all hate each other but you get the impression Gruff just isn't interested. I'd love to know how a band that size can end up bankrupted. I wonder if the whole experience has lead to finger-pointing in the band or something.
Was really didzapointed with the latest Neon Neon, will be interested to see the theatre show thing live at Latitude but the record feels very disposable. I think every other member of SFA has an album due out at some point this year, wasn't sure what to make of the The Earth track on that link though. The fuzzy guitar was sweet but the vocals made it sound like some cheap glam-rock shit.
