I've listened to Grimes and GOAT this week. I enjoyed them both but preferred the Grimes album tbh. Gig of the year was Roses in Barca

Nice to see, always have big respect for Picadilly records end of year album list (even if it is posted before the bad aids day). Goat will definitely be high up in my list for sure.

I for the life of me cannot see what people see in tame impala. The record just floats along so inoffensively, it's decent at best and at times is actually quite dull.
No Goat, no soul.

That's got to be the worst NME list so far this century.
I can't claim to have heard all 50 of those albums, but I know for a fact more than a third of them are below average at best.

Maybe it is one of the worst nme lists of this century but I think it's more to do with the average music that's been released this year than anything that's fundamentally wrong with their list.
Obviously it's missing the GOAT album, but so would I if I didn't post on this forum.

Maybe it is one of the worst nme lists of this century but I think it's more to do with the average music that's been released this year than anything that's fundamentally wrong with their list. To an extent, but it's also a lot to do with the fact the NME doesn't bother looking past the usual established labels anymore and whatever else Pitchfork might hype up - hence no Goat. Plus there's at least half a dozen good UK albums not included there that could have made that list.

Think I'll be doing a Top 25 this year. Tame Impala & Goat are bankers for the Top 10.

I don't know if I'm becoming an old grumpy cunt or it has been a mediocre year, but there are not many records that have made a big impression on me. I have enjoyed many, but love very few and with reluctances. Last year happened something similar, so I guess it's just me.

Youtubed songs by the odd band on that NME list to see some of what I'd missed out on this year, nothing much jumped out. Did get a couple of records on the back of half-liking some tunes though, one of which being Spector - Enjoy It While It Lasts. Pointless, boring, super cliched arsecandle of an indie record. You blew it NME, you blew it.

Yeah, the little I've heard of Spector has let me very annoyed with life and humanity.
