It's their 5th album, and it's been about for a couple of weeks now. Which is enough time to digest it and form an opinion. Personally i'm a little disappointed. It's very good, but I expected it to be a stonking return to form and it just isn't as great as I anticipated. It starts off great - Glitters Like Gold, Come on and be a no-one and Jaded Youth are classic cribs. But it has a real mid album dip (save for the excellent lofi of 'Chi Town'). You Should've helped is a decent song and they pull it together for the last 4 songs which are all pieced together and flow into each other 'rock opera' style. Overall though, I think it's only marginally better than 'Ignore the Ignorant' which itself was hands down the cribs worst album. Thoughts?

was looking forward to it, but it bored me to tears.
I think that might just be a cribs thing now though, i can't get excited about them, even the first two albums, like i did at the time.
for want of sounding like a terrible cunt, i think i might have grown out of them

Has a 2nd better rip been released?
The guitars were too loud and shit, and the vocals too low on the version I heard. I hoped it was ust a shit rip because all the reviews have been so good.

I'm a little disappointed too. I think it really shows that they used three different producers in three different studio's as overall it's an uneven bunch of songs. When it's good it's classic Cribs but in other places it's very forgettable.
They should of had 'Better Than Me' on the record too. I dig the record overall it's good but after being really excited about a return to a rawer sound and whatnot I don't think it's as good as the last record as they've simply not come up with enough quality songs.
Still growing on me every single listen though, excited for Troxy.

Yeah, Troxy should be huge. What sort of time are you and Slips about? I'm finishing at 4 and heading straight over.

I haven't formed a fully opinion about this, but I reckon Ignore The Ignorant is a much better record, mainly cos it is HUGE

Had 8 listens now. I stand by what I said though I want to stress that despite it's shortcomings I really do like this record.
Still a handful of tracks I really don't care about especially on the second half. As a 14 track record I personally would of cut a bit off. Sure 47 minutes is about the norm these days but theres no shame in a band like the Cribs putting out a record that's just over half an hour.
I'd of scrapped Confident Man, I Should Of Helped & the tail end of the album with the continuous tracks just doesn't really cut it for me. It's alright but I'd still of had Better Than Me on the record.

That pub that's just past the Troxy on the opposite side of the road if your walking up from Limehouse station. Can't remember the name.
Is alright & most people going to the gig go to the two pubs that you pass between limehouse and troxy.

Troxy is right by Kings Cross is it not? I'll wave as I hot foot in for my train.
Given the record 2 spins and enjoyed both, good record. Will smash it again storming up the country ignoring the likely old, smelly and figity person blatantly going to come and plonk down next to me

I think the problem is with the length of the songs, more than the number of tracks. While I'd say The Cribs are a one-melody-band, lately their "filler" songs tend to have little details which make them different and slightly enjoyable on their own. But I reckon some of them should have been cut to condense the feeling.
