Give a shit if I get ridiculed for this thread, you cannot deny they had some brilliant tunes.
I predict that even Noel Gallagher craved this lot to be Oasis b-sides ;D
Great lyrics also. Moz is with me ;D

Paul Heaton is a Don. I say that as a man who can't stand The Housemartins. Beautiful South have some cracking tunes. Perfect 10 is one of the best pop hits of the 90s. Few choruses with a line as devastating as 'time takes it toll... but not on the eyes'

Yeah, I like Paul Heaton, he seems pretty sound and do his politics.
I heard he now runs a pub in Salford and the jukebox is meant to be SUPERB. Will visit at some point ;D

I actually searched for that song after my last post, after initially forgetting to after rediscovering some of these songs - and as soon as I heard that line, I remembered I once, a couple of years ago, rejoiced to that lyric with moz off the soapbox. And then you go and post it yourself. Amazing. Love you x

Who was this sully guy? Sounded like a reet cunt. Liked his signature, tho.
In all seriousness, they do still stand up. The new single I heard recently sounded dull but they're still really good listening back to the videos in this thread, and that even includes the Murph's. If ever I could succumb to define a band as a 'guilty pleasure', this would be it.

So I've been playing the best of Beautiful South vinyl (named Carry On Up The Charts fyi) because I found it was worth nearly £100 and I only paid a fiver for it. The above tunes I posted are still the bollocks but I've decided I don't like them enough to keep it, especially as I'm trying to cleanse my soul of best ofs. So shall cash in my chips. Tough decision and almost harder than sacking Ranieri. I also preferred their early name 'centre of the universe' more. Apologies to moz and his pencil case edit: I'm also gonna buy some new vinyls with the money even though it'll only get me 4 or 5 new ones haha. But 'bout time I pursued this hopeless hobby eh. I've actually decided to sell my entire vinyl collection as some skip, some are average, some are in poor condition, and some were presents which now serve as bad memories (yeah). So I'm starting from scratch. Exciting times and one I'm going to take seriously.
